....I guess DH felt bad for me, and, since I helped him all weekend our church's carnival (I was stuck in that darned ticket booth the WHOLE TIME!), he reconsidered....AKL ~ October 29-Nov 2!

Well, then we FINALLY get to meet!

Well at least I possibly only have 1 day to spend with Dis Sis.....Then 4 with the other Dis Sis...LoL... Tell DH to extend it to the following Saturday. .Kim

I am a dvc member . I see there is in the Jambo house a value room. Is there anyone out there that has stayed in one of these and location. what do you see. do you have a balcony? My home base is BLT but this will be a quick trip and trying to use as less points as I can. Thank you, Sandy

I recently stayed in one last April. I can't remember the room number but it was obviously 5th floor. First pod to the right past the check in desk. We were the 2nd to last room in that 1st pod just near where the Windows to see outside to pool area. Elevators were right there as well. So close to take down for buses, and also for pool visits. Our value room studio was perfect for the pts used. Yes , it was a lil smaller than a regular room but not that much where it was horribly noticeable. I also had a nice view of the pool as well as the restaurants & river/brook near jiko. Ideally if you ask me....Also DVC laundry room is on that floor just round the corner near the atrium of the lobby. Unfortunately I found this out the last day. I we doing laundry in the main facilities on ground floor past pool. Way longer walk... HTH.

Good Morning fellow Dis-ers!

I have a question I am hoping some of you can help me. I posted on another thread, but haven't received a full response:

Hubby and I are AP holders and DVC owners. We are staying off site for a week and the kids (ages 22 and 11) are joining us for the last three nights offsite. Then we are all moving to Animal Kingdom Kidani for the last four nights. Hubby and I have Magic Bands already linked to our AP's. We know we can book both of our FP's, but we are concerned that the kids will not officially have their Magic Bands until we arrive at AKV. Will I have to purchase Magic Bands for the kids for the three days that they are offsite?

Thanks for any help!

As log as you buy their tickets in advance, you should be able to make FP+ reservations 30 days out using the confirmation numbers. They don't need a Magic band per se, they could use the tickets they send or you pick up from will call. Of course they might want the MBs out of jealousy. :)

Though if you order the Kidani MBs by mail (customize ahead of time and if you're in the US), you'll have them in advance, and you might be able to add their offsite tix as well, not sure.
Good luck!

If we plan to take about 15 min to eat breakfast in the CL at 7:00 each morning, and we are using the buses to the parks, will we make 8:00 AM rope drops?

I caution against thinking you will only spend 15 mins in the club. Between the am being the busiest time and the yummy food I would give my self a half hour. Door to door to MK is 21 mins approx. You should plan on being at rope drop 15-30 mins before, so that backs you up to 7:10. I would be in the CL at 6:30 when the offerings are put out. Plus it will be less busy.

I thought 6:30 was only beverages? Does the food come out then too?

We've done CL breakfasts before and know we can eat and go in 15 min when we need to. Cup of yogurt for DGD, bowl of cereal for DH and I and we are done. We won't have to go quick each morning, some we can linger. What we haven't done is have to deal with the bus so that's where my timing is skewed.

I stand corrected. I was always there between 6:15 and 6:30 to grab coffee before getting everyone else ready! If you know you can be quick, I would get there a bit before 7 so as to have first access. Should not be a problem. Enjoy!! AKL CL is my absolute favorite!

Thanks. You got me the info I was hoping for, the time I need to aim to be out and at the bus area. We'll give it a try on our first MK morning and see how it goes. If it doesn't work on our other morning we'll come up with a different plan.

DH suggested having something we stow in the room. I'll bring some bags to use in case we end up doing that.

Headed to the AKL in a few weeks - our first time there, and our first time at a deluxe!

We are super excited- does anyone have any must dos at the lodge for us (and maybe even a "avoid this").

Also, any tips? One I read was to bring binoculars, for example. Something I would never of thought of!

Binoculars are a good idea. I highly recommend going out and talking with the staff on the Arusha area if you have any questions about the animals. They are very enlightening and engaging.

Welcome your gonna love it.

Don't worry about binoculours unless you have a savanna view room otherwise all of the overlooks have binoculors/scopes to look at the animals.

Plan at least one full resort day to enjoy the resort.

Try all dining experiances at Kidani & Jambo and if you like coffee flavor don't miss Zebra Domes. We had the chocolate croissants every A.M. using a snck credit on the dining plan.

Spend an afternoon poolside.

Night time animal viewing.

Firepit & marshmellow roasting

Outdoor movie.

A cocktail in the lounge and several on your own balcony.

Try to reserve a safari if possible. We did the Wayanami (?spell?) safari & loved it.

If you have kids try several of the kid programs.

That's ok, you just make sure you stay on your side of the resort. We (soc's) Will stay on Kidani side, and you(Greasers) stay on Jambo side....:stir:

I'm glad to see The Outsiders references don't go away as adults- you have me cracking up! My boys are always going back and forth with that too- the oldest is more "preppy" and the youngest has to have his hair longer...
