I'm going to duck first, but don't worry if you do t like Zebra Domes. I can't stand them! I do love that the gift shop has a decent selection of SA wines. I also highly endorse Victoria Falls.
The Movies are behind the pool, near the flamingos.

I have two trips to add-- 6/25-29, off property (I'm pricing AKL, is that wrong?)
And Nov 6-10, Poly CL, wine and dine half marathon.
I think I have an addiction :)

I did our online check in. Anyone know why Zebra trail isn't a selection? I gave it to them on the phone and I have mentioned it to the IPO but thought it strange that Kudu trail is there but not Zebra. I ended up selecting near elevator. Anyone know why Zebra trail isn't listed as a request?

Hi there!

So I am thinking of booking my first ever trip to AKL! I am excited. I will only be for 2 nights though. I was wondering if anyone knew the price difference between going to jiko and ordering it room service? I can't seem to find it on a menu anywhere. Thanks!

Personally, I'd rather have a meal at Jiko, to experience the ambiance...JMHO..:confused3

I've been to jiko. I liked it a lot (been craving that filet and creme brulee since october!) but I'm having a solo trip this time and thought a meal on my balcony would be nice. Just looking to see if it's similar in price or sky high more. I don't mind paying 45-55 for a steak, but if room service will be like 75 or something I'll just go eat there. It's not a big deal, just curious for the sake of ADR making. Jiko, while beautiful, just isn't somewhere I'd want to dine alone, personally.

I booked the Waynama Safari for my trip in March. There was a tornado warning and torrential downpour that afternoon. When I checked in for the Safari, I discovered that everyone else had cancelled or switched to a different day. The warning had ended, the rain had stopped, and I didn't have room in my itinerary to switch to a different day, so I decided to do it anyway.

As you probably know, the Wanyama Safari is followed by dinner at Jiko. That means I dined at Jiko alone.

There is a little seating area where the pizza ovens are. It's like eating at a bar, but you aren't in front of a bartender; you're in front of some young chefs making salads and the pizzas. They seated me there. It was fine. I am a very picky eater, so it was unusual for me to do a meal where you're given a selection of entrees, appetizers and desserts. I told myself I was going to try each one, and I did. The young chefs talked to me, and other cast members came over to check on me. It was a good experience.

If you're going to eat at Jiko alone, you might want to ask if you can sit in that area.

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely keep that in mind, it's good to know that option is available.

I am OFFICIALLY booked! July 3-5. I am very excited as I have always wanted to stay here. I do have a question. I see a lot of posts about which room requests to choose. How do you request things? I didn't have an option when I booked to request anything but being near anyone else I knew or a crib. Thanks!

IIRC when we ordered rm service at Kindani, there was a $3 delivery charge, tax, + 18% service charge (tip) added to the bill. So, it's basically the same as what you'd pay if you dined right at Jiko, + the $3.
The waiter set the food up so nicely - it was great! Altho that counter at Jiko mentioned previously sounds great too.
Have a great time!

I forget: at resort 'entertainment' is only for guests of the resort? Ie, if I stay at the swan and drive over to buy tusker, can the kids and I go to the campfire?

Thanks to my bestie (Chris1013) and her family I was able to stay at AKL-Kidani in December. After many, many trips to Disney I can say this is my new favorite place to stay! Earlier in 2013 I was lucky enough to visit Kenya and staying here was awesome, definitely brought back memories and it was just so relaxing after a long day at the parks. Can't wait to stay again someday (hopefully soon).

Subbing! :thumbsup2

....alone? Yeah, that changes everything....I agree with you...

I was on a solo trip a few weeks ago and ate at Artist Point.. I had a great dinner. I brought my iPad and read while I had my dinner.. I learned long ago to not care what people thought about me.. I will probably never see them again. I had a great meal and my server was really great!

I completely agree. I have been going out to dinner a few times a month. Sometimes it's better to be by myself! I bet Artists point was great alone.
