AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Sorry about your injury. If you are staying in a regular resort room (not a "Villa" which would be DVC), you will definitely be at Jambo.

Kidani is ALL DVC villas, but they can be reserved through Disney Travel (cash reservations, not on points). Those would all be either "Deluxe Studio", "1-bedroom" (standard or savannah view), "2-bedroom (standard or savannah view) or "Grand Villa".

HTHs! :)

Thanks. We do have a regular room booked so I was hoping it would be Jambo. The ankle just makes traveling more interesting. I do appreciate the help.

Looking at your avatar... Did you really fall up the mountain while skiing and is this how your ankle became injured?

This sounds like a story I should get my popcorn ready for....

;)

One working week away from getting on a plane bound for Disney and the Jambo House. Can't get here soon enough.

Just switched from POFQ to AKL with FD today. DH and I will be there 11/10 - 11/17/14 so add us to the November list. One day of Food and Wine Festival and MVMCP. Doesn't get any better than that. This is our first stay at AKL.

We just booked 11/9-11/14 for F&W and MVMCP :cool1: :cool1:
We were at POR, but it wasn't much more for us to change to AKL. First timers also!! Can't wait!!

Hope someone can help me. No I have not read all 159 pages to find the answer I will be there faster than I can read.

I'm staying at AKL in 10 days, not DVC. Due to a bad ankle injury 18 months ago I need to rent an ECV but I am not using a preferred company. I did online check-in so that is set. However my rental company wanted to know if I am staying in Kidani or Jambo. How do I find that out? If it helps the reservation is for a standard room and not DVC.

Even though I already did check-in would I be better off calling and trying to add a request for Jambo?

Thanks for any help.

Aww, sorry about the injury, but I hope your trip still goes well. My DH had ankle surgery before trip and had to rent an ECV too. Everyone was so nice about it, from bus drivers to CM's at rides. He had a big boot around his bandages so he could get off and limp onto most rides. Have fun with the ECV and decorate it if you want. My now retired boss had to use one for the last few years and a couple co-workers and I decorated it for Christmas- then she wanted it decorated for every holiday and month after that!

Hi AKL future friends,

I originally had a reservation for WL for my upcoming trip in November but my TA blew it and I missed out on the free dining. I'm planning on changing my resort to AKL. Reading this thread made me feel better about my choice.

I will have a double stroller on my trip and I apologize in advance. :flower3:

Well I called and booked my 12 day 11 nights Standard Club Level Room for May/June 2015. The CM was so nice, he told me tips of when to call back to get this REALLY set up. CURRENTLY this reservation is just room, for now, they can't book packages yet.

Thanks for the tip to call now.... I am now guaranteed a CL room!

Any advice, I am all ears!?!?

I know I will have tons of questions...

1st question: CM reserved us a king room and said it wasn't HA/WCA... I am concerned because I looked at touringplans.com and the only King Rooms seems to be HA/WCA... We don't want to take one of those rooms from someone that would need one nor do we need one. Can anyone tell me if you have stayed in a club level king room that wasn't HA/WCA (has anyone stayed in room 4431 or 4217)?

Thank you so much for all your help... I know I will be pestering you more as time goes along!

Does that room have a king or two queen beds? What a great view.

You would not. No matter what the CM told you, you can't book a King bed on Club Level. You can request one, which is very different. And while they will try to meet your request if the only option was to put you in a King bed and take away a HA room from someone who needs it you would not get your request. A HA room if a bookable category and that always trumps a request.

Oh the CM told me it was just a request... I should have said that.

But I know that my boyfriend and I would much rather have a TUB to soak our feet in when we walked them puppies dead than a shower only... and that is another condsideration too... In fact we would rather a 1 queen bedroom and get a tub, than a king room without one... that is another reason we are trying to figure it out as well.

1. we don't need to hog one from someone who needs an HA room and it is truly good to know those who need it will trump us. :thumbsup2

2. we wanna soak in the tootsies in the tub after a long day.

Question 2: Which reminds me, is there a hot tub at AKL?

You know, I'm not so sure there are King rooms that are not HA on Club Level. Looking at the Disney site, it doesn't mention King rooms on Club Level.

This is all it shows
2 Queen Beds or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Bunk Bed or 1 Queen Bed

So it doesn't show King rooms there.

But, if you click the box for HA it shows

1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed

and nothing else. So I think, despite what the CM on the phone said, there are no non HA King rooms on CL
