AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

So we are staying 1 night at Club Level. It will be 3 adults, 1 child and 1 infant in the room. We are staying club level so we can try out the Sunrise Safari. It is a surprise for my family so super excited to see their faces. For the next two nights, we need a different room set-up. With that in mind, we were given three options:

1. Rent two rooms at Jambo savanna view
2. Rent a two bedroom suite at AKV-Kidani savanna view
3. Rent a 1 bedroom suite at AKV-Kidani savanna view

The difference between the 1 and 2 bedroom is about $400.00 total. The makeup of our party is my husband, myself, my mother-in-law, my 4 year old son and my 19 month old son.

I'm thinking for 2 nights, a 1 bedroom should be fine. We would give my mother-in-law the bedroom, my husband and I would take the couch, 4 year old would sleep on chair and we would ask for a crib or use a pack and play for the infant. Is that too tight?? Worried it might be. We aren't in our rooms a whole lot though...we usually are out and about at parks except at nap time when one of us would bring the baby back for a nap while the others went to the pool with the 4 year old. Opinions?

People can survive without water longer than that. I'm willing to bet you can survive a 1 bedroom with your mother in law. ;)

We'll be there as well as April, but always paranoid about posting specifics of when we'll be away on vacation, for all the house robbers that do research on Disboards! :rotfl2: But a general posting of April 2014 for Kidani 1BR would be good if vague is allowed! :goodvibes

Great, I am not alone :) I understand about posting specifics on here. Although I have never related it here more to Facebook. So I never post when we are on vacation there.

Hi everyone! Paid in full today for a stay in the Kidani Village in March : )
I requested a room close to the lobby on the 2nd floor looking over the Sunset Savanna. Hope everything goes well!!!
Super excited!!

Jambo :wave2:

Question: does anyone have a picture(s) of the closets in the CL std view room? I'm trying to see if a hanging shoe organizer will fit :confused3

Thanks much :thumbsup2

Are there washers and dryers at Kidani for those who are in studios and don't have them?

Since no one else seemed to have an answer for this I looked around on a few websites and do not see any laundry facilities listed at Kidani.

That does NOT mean there aren't any, but I can't find information about them if they are there. The only thing I can find is the location of the laundry near Simba's Clubhouse childcare center in Jambo House.

Anyone else know anything better than this?

There are washer/dryers at Kidani. I am not sure if there is more than one laundry room but I used the one off the lobby near the community hall. This was in 2010.

There are 2 large capacity washers at the time and 6 to 8 dryers.

Are you planning to use the kitchen facilities? If you're not in the rooms or planning to take advantage of them, I'd stick with two rooms at Jambo House. Also, if you're at Kidani, you could end up with either a Pembe or Sunset savannah view. Pembe doesn't have giraffe or zebras, so if seeing them from the balcony is important, I'd stick with Jambo house.

...actually, there is another laundry facility near the end of Kudu Trail - if I remember correctly, it was on the 2nd or 3rd floor...

Hello!

We are booked for 8 nights at POFQ in May with me, DH and our 3 boys (5, 2, 2). I really would love to stay Deluxe the whole trip but it's just not in our budget. I have been considering doing a split stay and doing AKL CL just the last 3 nights of our trip. Mostly because CL at AKL is still cheaper with the discounts than standard rooms at MK area resorts and because I know we won't have another chance to stay AKL in the future because we'll be a family of 5.

I have a couple of questions though. First, where are the standard CL rooms in comparison to the lounge? I read that it's a hike to get to the lounge, but the map I saw didn't make it look that far. If it's not convenient I'm not sure how much we'll really end up using it.

I'm also considering the Sunrise Safari, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. First, since it only runs on Thursday that means we'll be doing it on checkout day, starting our day earlier than normal and we don't fly out until 8pm. Long day for the kids, but if it's at all possible to get late check out they might be able to nap early which would be a plus. Breakfast would be late and I'm not sure worthwhile with many allergies. But is the Safari that great?

This also means our last afternoon would be spent at the resort most likely. What if any kind of things are there to do at the resort itself?

Thanks for any input!

Thanks for the information. We are away nine days I am sure I will have a need to do a load or two.

I will try to answer your questions. Standard CL rooms are in the 1st 2 pods off the lobby (Kudu and Zebra Trails) on 4th floor. Lounge is on 6th. It is a bit of a hike, but everyone's perception differs so what might be fine for some families might be "too far" to others. :confused3

Sunrise Safari is wonderful, however the 2 young ones might be bored and restless. I think your 5 year old would enjoy it. I would hesitate only because of the younger children. I only say that because the 7 or 8 Sunrise Safaris I've done, often the young children (under 4) have had issues sitting in the safari vehicle for over an hour, then waiting to eat at the buffet. You know your children and what they can handle! ;)

Late check-out is very hard to come by - you will likely have to vacate your room by 11am. However, your family is welcome to use the Lounge on check-out day up till it closes at 10pm. :goodvibes

I am thinking this, if budget it a concern: You could very well try to rent points, doin't know if AKL will have availability, but renting for 2 weeks at AKV was cheaper than a 30% discounted stay at POR....

OR,

Unless you are using a PIN for your May stay I am guessing you aren't getting a discount, you could switch to POR and get a 25% discount, and then apply that difference in costs to doing your potential split stay ???

:yay: Good answers! Could this information be put at the beginning of the thread for people looking to know? Pretty please, Kim??? ;)
