Wonderful trip report! Love all the photos! My last few trips to WDW have been cram packed (typically a 4 to 5 day trips). In February, my DH and I are going for 10 days, staying at AKL for the first time and we are going to slow things down and enjoy the little things as it looked like you and your family were able to!

I'm back & sadly didn't get to meet up with Laura. Sometimes when you're down there things just don't go as planned!

Kidani & Jambo were gorgeous as always. Bus service was good. We had a 5th floor 1BR at Kidani right off the elevator so very close to the lobby which was what I requested. Had breakfast twice at Boma, with our favorite server there, Theresa! Best...breakfast...ever!

My only wish was that they didn't close the pool & hot tub promptly at 11pm. I'm not sure if they're doing this at all resorts now (I thought I read that they were). We like to close the park & then head over for a soak in the hot tub, sometimes at 1 or 2am. Something we'll just have to get used to & plan according for from now on.

Magic Bands worked fine & were very easy to use. I went into this trip thinking I'd dislike them, but surprisingly I think they were great.

Yeah, they're closing all the "feature" pools at 11 now, only quiet pools open later. Did you have a Savanna view? How was it from the fifth floor? Still trying to decide what request to make for our Kidani 1BR.

Don't know many on this thread. I see I have a Lehigh Valley neighbor in Tara! We are scheduled to arrive at AKV Kidani on 1/16/13, 1st 2 nights in a SV Studio followed by a week in a 1BR Savanna View. Unfortunately, I'm scheduled for a laparoscopic hysterectomy on 12/26. Plan on still going and renting a scooter if I am unable to walk the long distances. Plan on shorter days and more time relaxing in the resort than previous. We stayed at Jambo House in May 2013 for 2 nights and fell in love. Can't wait to relax and Kidani should be a GREAT resort for that!

We're big fans of Beach Club and Stormalong Bay but love the relaxing feel of Animal Kingdome Lodge.

Thank you for the photos, I miss AKL so much. We have decided after staying at several resorts that AKL is our favorite but we still like the others. AKL just feels like we are home on vacation.

Take it easy, and prayers for a speedy recovery. But what a way to recover, relaxing at AKL. I would take it.

We stayed at Beach Club this past summer and while I really loved it, I missed AKL, I am glad we had a vacation already planned and booked to return to AKL while we were there.

Thanks AlohaAnnie!We were initially going to cancel but the more I thought about it, the worst will be the travel. And we will be checking our bags curbside; DD is rolling the carryon for our first day's clothes, etc. Then it is the Magical Express so very little "work" on my part to get there. Once there we can adjust to how I'm feeling. I am really looking forward to a LAZY vacation at Kidani...

We were in a standard view 1BR, facing the front of the resort. I've been spoiled with a savannah view before but really, I didn't miss it. This was only a 5-day trip so we weren't in the room that much. We just went down to the rocking chairs overlooking the back & watched the animals from there when we wanted to.

Hello Bethlehem! I'm right next door in Lower Saucon! You will be at the right resort to relax in after your surgery, that's for sure. While I LOVE BC & the Epcot Area resorts, AKL & AKV are soooooo relaxed & serene compared to them. I always say that next time I'm bringing a book & I'm just going to sit & read it at AKL!!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
