AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Are you renting through a DVC member or is it a regular cash booking? If it's not DVC, all the regular Club rooms have an Arusha Savanna view. That's the best savanna. If you are going to be in the room in the late afternoon/early evening, like 3-7 PM, then the extra money might be worth it for the view if you factor in what food/drinks you would use. Otherwise Club usually will not "save" you money, otherwise everyone would do it. :)

It's just a regular room, not DVC--so that means it would definitely be an Arusha Savanna view? Hmmmm....I definitely like the convenience of CL refreshments; I've stayed CL at BWI and YC, but just a regular room at Poly and did find I "missed" being able to walk into the lounge to just grab a cup of coffee or whatever...
I think I'll keep CL... :)

Thanks!

I believe Sydney was at Jambo House, which was built as a deluxe resort; DVC villas were added later (and had to be retrofitted into the existing space). If I'm not mistaken, Sydney's family was in a regular resort room where upgrades are sometimes offered.

Kidani was built as a DVC resort. The odds of a standard-to-savanna upgrade are very rare. Never say never, but be prepared to be in a standard view room (if that's what you booked). There are lots of public viewing areas and my favorite at Kidani is out on the overlook, by the fire pit. :thumbsup2

Yes, we were at Jambo in just a regular room- #3269. It was off the Kudu Trail in the first little section off the main hall so we faced the Sunset Savannah. We loved that it was on the main level, so no stairs or elevators going to and from parks. Also since it wa down towards the end of the side section there was little noise of people going past our room.

I will be there in 6 days!!! I have requested to be near my favorite 3010.. I love that giraffe trail!

So excited I'm coming home!!!! Heading to Disney on the 20th and staying at the BWV. Yesterday I decided to add a day to the end of our trip but unfortunately there was no availability at BWV BUT there was a value villa open at AKL for Christmas so I snagged it! Yay!

....what did your son do to his arm? :confused3

Everyone in our family was asking the same thing after I shared pictures with them too! He was playing football the week before we left and flipped over someone and landed right on his elbow. After x-rays in the emergency room, a fiberglass splint for four days, and another set of x-rays from a specialist, they determined that it was not broken in any places and just badly bruised. But the dr. did want him to keep the sling on to help it heal better. I thought his band director was gonna have a heart attack till we assured him that he could march and play at state the day before we left. He's all back to normal now- thanks for asking though!

I finally started my trip & dining report if anyone is interested. I am including a lot of pic.tures and writing all my thoughts and details of what we did. Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=50187824#post50187824

Thanks for all the help from everyone for planning this awesome AKL stay!

Nice pics on your link! I love the one with you and the giraffe in the background and also the one with the giraffe over the gazelles. The height difference really stands out, but also the giraffe looks like it has a protective pose.

Visiting the Magic Kingdom and Epcot one day next week. :yay::yay: Need to get a few Christmas presents for my daughter and granddaughter.

Hello everyone! Happy Holidays. I have a question about the different children's activities at Jambo and Kidani. We have stayed before both before and after having DS last year. He will be two when we go next month to Kidani. Is he old enough to enjoy any of the activities?

I know each child varies, but I was wondering what your experiences might have been with a child around that age.

Thank you very much!

Lisa

Tomorrow!!!! I will be there tomorrow morning!! I can't wait to see the lobby all pretty for Christmas!

it's only for the night, but several Disney Brides are there this weekend, so we are having a mini meet!
