We are booked for AKL Pool View with free dining Nov. 20--Nov. 29. We will be moving from NY to GA in July and my daughter will start her senior year in a new school and leaving her BFF. But her BFF will be coming with us to Disney and it should be quite the reunion!! Can't wait. I love AKL.

If I am going to switch, I guess I should act fast then! Might bump into you in our pool view section! :)
:). We just might lol. WL officially announced today about pool renovations. Good luck. Hope y'all get a great room at AKL!

I have requested room 3010 and 3020 and they were in the gift shop hallway facing the pool. It is perfect and there is an elevator that takes you down to the pool...I love lobby level rooms! Nice at the end of the day not to have to walk and walk and walk and then get in an elevator!
Yes, I did love that the elevator took you right by the pool! :)

I am going to stay at AKL in jan.(4-8) And thinking of booking pool view. However, will the pool even be open during this time? I'm assuming if it is then it won't be very crowded which will cut back on noise since I've read some people think that the pool view rooms can be loud. Also, does anyone know when the Xmas tree and decor is taken down at AKL? Never stayed AKL before or gone to WDW in Jan. so any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

My ds (11) and I r staying july 26th to August 2nd. This is our first time staying at this resort. We booked a pool view room with out pass holder discount and was wondering what the best room to have is. We r so excited to b staying here. Any suggestion or tips would b great. Thanx

We had a pool view room last year and made the requests "zebra trail, close to elevator, high floor". All three requests were granted and we loved our room! We were steps away from the elevator (and window to check out the animals each morning) and the elevator took us right down to the pool/restaurant/laundry areas. Perfect!

Unless it's closed for a reburb pools at Disney never close. It can be warm enough to swim in Orlando all throughout the year. Granted, in the winter it can be too cold too, so it's a toss up. Chances are good though that you'll be able to swim at least once while there. And Disney heats their pools to 80 something, best I can recall. So that helps a lot too.

7604 (Had to look at my pics to remember!), and it was the lobby level floor. It does depend on the savannah which animals. We requested Sunset as they have the giraffes, which my mother loves. They also had the zebras, but I don't remember the red river hogs. There were a lot of active giraffes and zebras. Even saw a zebra backing up to kick a young giraffe, then the giraffe turned the tables and kicked the zebra!:lmao: We were thrilled with the activity in our location.

Oh my goodness! That is awesome! We are horse people and love animals (my degree is in Animal Science) that's why AKL is one of our favorites! AND I have been thinking about the lobby floor, too, for the connivence due to traveling with our then DD21mo and the stoller! So you don't feel that your view was compromised by being on the "first" floor? Thank you so much for the info! This was exactly what I was looking for!

We were on the main floor from the lobby and loved it! Our view was awesome - assuming you like to look a giraffe in the eye! :cloud9: We had arusha view.

Though not sure why, I do recall putting our buggy in the elevator - maybe just for food...:confused3

Got our MB's yesterday. It just got real!

Over months I have read this whole thread. LOVED IT. I can' t wait to check in to this dreamy place.

Joining in everyone ( wave! ) booked yesterday a pre trip at AKL CL for 2 days to get on Florida time and enjoy the food & wine festival. Our dates are Nov 7 & 8 at the lodge followed by 10 days at GF theme park view and the lastly 3 days at GF RP CL ... So it's become quite the biggie trip (( fun ))
Looking forward to reading along and reading back for more information since it's our first stay at AKL

Hi guys! Coming home on Sept 1!!! Quick question... We have ADR at Chef Mickeys for breakfast on the day we plan to spend in MK. We will be driving to the CR in our vehicle. Is it okay to leave our vehicle in the parking lot of CR and take the Monorail to MK for the day?

Howdy all!
We're staying at Kidani the week of July 6- July 10th. We are sure that one night we want to do the campfire, roasting marshmallows and movie.

However, I have scoured the interwebz and can only find the movie list for May. Has anyone been recently and have a new, updated schedule? Or do the movies stay the same for much of the summer?

I'd like to know in advance, that way I can plan going out the other evenings.

Thanks!!

It is going to really be hard to answer. Technically, no you can not do this. There is a 3 hour limit to park at a resort for dining. Often, if the resort has a large parking lot and isn't very busy no one will say or do anything. The CR is one that can be tricky though. They do not have a large lot and if there are a number of conventions going on, may well have their lot totally closed. We encountered that on our last trip. Even if you had dining reservations you couldn't park there. They were directing everyone to the TTC to park and ride the monorail in. So my answer is I wouldn't count on it

Though, all that said, if it turns out you can park there for the day you wouldn't take the monorail to MK. You walk.

and in your situation I would bus to MK, walk to CR eat and walk back to MK. Then bus back to AKL at the end of the day.

Bus is out of the question. I am extremely car sick. To the point of vomiting. We have no choice but to drive. And we would like to take the monorail to MK instead of walk, because we have never been on it before. Thanks for the advice. Maybe it will work out in our favor.

:wave2: Hi all! Happy to be able to join this thread! DD16 and I will be having our 1st mother/daughter trip July 15-22. DH can't get away this summer but gave us the financial :thumbsup2 on pretty short (for me) notice. Happily I was able to book pool view at AKL just 35 days out.

We are devoting this trip to doing things DH hasn't wanted to in the past, from dining and attractions and yes, staying at AKL. He is firmly in the "it's too far away from everything" camp. We are so looking forward to experiencing this resort and I'm grateful for all the great info here. Can't wait to get there!

....it is frowned upon, since the window of time for parking at a resort is usually only a few hours. However, since you are staying on-property, you will be receiving a 'parking pass' that you keep on your dashboard(an 8" x10" printed paper that includes the 'home' resort and valid date) so, if you were to go to any of the park parking lots, you wouldn't have to pay the parking fee. To be on the safe side, you might want to call ahead of time and ask about that though....

Another choice would be drive to the TTC, get on the monorail to CR and then walk to MK after you eat. That way you can get on both and you won't have to worry about parking. Then you could get on the monorail back to TTC at the end of the night. If you can't ride the bus and you have to drive to MK you would always get a chance to ride the monorail. You can't park at MK directly. Though are you sure the monorail will be ok for your motion sickness?

I sure hope I am able to ride the monorail! My son has been wanting to. What is TTC?

Ticket and Transportation Center. It's the central station for the monorail and the only parking lot for those that drive to MK. From there you can either grab the monorail or a ferry boat to MK. Other than bus that is the only method to get to that park. Well, or walking to it from CR
