Probably a weird question but maybe not? Is there a chance the savannah view rooms ever smell like the savannah? Or when your on your balcony? ( hiding my head a bit, but a girls gotta ask )

I would like to do dinner at Beach club or Boardwalk area. How do I get there? How long will it take? I'm going the last week in August.

My reply from your other post:

When going from resort to resort you have 2 options:

1. Bus from AKL to a park, then bus or boat to Boardwalk or Beach Club. For example you can bus to Animal Kingdom then bus to BW or BC. Or bus to Hollywood Studios then walk or boat to BW or BC. I would allow 60-75 minutes for this option.

2. Taxi from AKL to BC or BW. It should be about $14-$16 and take about 10-12 minutes.

You would take the AKL bus to AK and the the bus to the boardwalk hotel you are dining at OR I'd take AKL bus to Epcot or DHS and then the bus to the hotel your dining at and especially on the evening since AK closes early. ( also AKL to DHS and then a boat to your boardwalk area dining would work too )
Not sure time wise on now long since it's our first time staying at AKL? Sometimes if we are staying by magic kingdom and heading to DHS or AK we just grab a taxi

Yes this exactly and much better explained than me : )

I've never noticed anything like that. There are people keeping the savannah clean. :)

Greetings All!! :goodvibes Almost less then 3 months before our AKL adventure! Wooo! :woohoo:

Hoping you can help me in please! In the rooms I'm assuming there is a fan in the bathroom area correct? How loud is it?

I ask because at home I sleep with a fan on for the white noise, can't sleep with out. I've been planning on buying a white noise machine to bring with us but thought I should ask first if the fan might be loud enough? Or if it even makes a sound? Would be nice to save $30-50 if I can.

And no, no sleeping in ear plugs, its uncomfortable and only in the direst or snoriest situations. :rotfl:

What is the difference between a sunset savannah view and a pembe savannah veiw?
check out post number 9 which has a great map of both Kidani and Jambo and the savannas
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2737626
or try playing around w/ google maps to see akl

Pembe is the very small (about 4 acres, I think) savanna on the far upper side of Kidani. They have no giraffes (the barn isn't tall enough to bring them into.) I personally wouldn't want a Pembe view. Sunset is the largest of the 4 savannas (about 18 acres, I think) and lies between Kidani and Jambo.

Not sure if this works but I read you can get an app on your phone with white noise and then put your phone in a red solo or plastic cup and it makes a nice white noise sound ... You might want to give it a try at home : )

Which savanna is the CL rooms on?

Standard ones are on Arusha. Not sure for DVC

Thanks so much : ) I just googled and saw it was Arusha, not that I know what that would look like lol
I just booked today and went from a 2 night stay CL at AKL to a 10 night stay CL ... A new resort for us so I'm getting more excited about this new adventure on the other side/wild side of disney world.

Another question has anyone experienced the sunrise safari? Love to read some reviews, thanks in advance : )

How do you get a taxi from the resort?
And if you wanted to eat somewhere else besides AKL and you don't have park tickets what do you suggest? What are the easiest option? I'm a little worried about the food selection at AKL. It will be me , DH and DD8 and we are eating at Boma one night. However I feel we need some American food options.

You can get a taxi by asking a parking attendant or CM near the front lobby entrance ect. As far as not having park tickets you don't need a park ticket to use the busses to get to disney downtown or other resort restaurants. You would use the buses to the parks bus area and simply change to another resort bus.
For example of you want to dine near magic kingdom resort area just take the bus to magic kingdom and the monorail or boat to whatever resort you wish to dine at : )

And if the park buses have stopped running when you're done, you can always transfer at DTD - I think their buses run til well after midnight.

If you have room to add them to the Room reservation ,I'd do that. AKL/ V is one of the resorts that doesnt really allow pool hopping. Along with SAB,BLT, BCV,and AOA too....Is anyone really policing it? No, but it's still not right.....If you are going to do this, it is easier done at JAmbo rather than Kidani. No gated area! !

No room on our Reservation. We'll find something to do together, even if pools are out. Thanks for answering. :)

Nope! They smell fresh. Though, admittedly, we never had a zebra poop under our balcony... :rotfl2: We ate breakfast on our balcony and never noticed anything untoward. We did notice ppl out working several times a day - very clean as others have said.

If you have PHers or will be at EP, we really enjoy walking from EP through the international gateway. It's such a lovely stroll. :)

Can't answer to the Safari - but we had the Arusha view last trip and loved it - zebras, giraffes, Thompson (I believe) gazelle, birds, and some warthogs. We had animals at pretty much all hours of the day. Giraffes and zebras were the most noticeable.

So question for you - what's the BIGEST bit of pixie dust pixiedust: you've ever heard of someone getting? I am so curious! Last trip we were upgraded from pool view to Arusha view and loved it - bt I know there has to be even more magical examples of pixie dust - so please what have you seen at AKL/V? I'd love to know. :goodvibes

I had looked into an app, downloaded one and wow, very weird menu set up. And most of them are just to help you fall asleep and work on a timer. Although I believe some have an option for no timer. Just not sure if I want that running on my phone all night(even if plugged)

Thank you though, maybe I should look into it a little more.

I'm sure some here have done it but in the off chance they don't report back before next month I can. We are going on it and I can't wait! It's going to be so hot while we are there early morning, or late night are about the only good times for the Safari. We are taking the Sunrise safari one morning and then doing the last Safari of the day on our Harambe Nights day. Just to see each end of the activity.
