AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

Loved the GV! We were so lucky to have gotten it for that week. There were only a few since Kidani wasn't open. We were so happy, we invited all our friends over to see it. We stayed there mostly with just one other couple and their son, so it was really just the six of us. We had houseguests for a night or two, and it was absolutely very comfortable. So many bathrooms, we took turns rotating! I never got to take a bath in that magnificent master bath! We are thinking of renting it for a long weekend in October, when some friends come down. I'll be sure to do it then.

Oh, nice! Will you try for Kidani or Jambo House.

I can't wait to see pictures of the GV in Kidani.:surfweb:

Hmm, maybe you should take that mission on?

Well, tell Bob if he really wants to stay in the GV, he has to attend five character breakfasts, be picked for parade Grand Marshal for every park, ride Space Mountain three times in a row, wear Mickey ears with "Bobby" embroidered on the back. Sit on the sidewalk to watch High School Musical at Hollywood Studios, try out for American Idol, be picked to be in Indiana Jones and dress up with a turban on his head, drive the Indy Cars at the Magic Kingdom and constantly bump the car in front of him; have a joke submitted for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Factory; memorize the entire spiel for the Jungle Cruise, walk up and down the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse three times in a row; try and French kiss the Fairy Godmother; take a ride on Kiliminjaro Safaris and yell "Watch out"! really loud; Ride Kali River Rapids in nothing but a Speedo...and then we'll talk.

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::banana:

I would say, legally, yes, because if you think of the other resorts who combine DVC Villas and the main hotels, you can walk over to those pools and use them. Off the top of my head, I think of Wilderness Lodge and the proximity of the DVC and main pool, etc.

I am not sure of the distance from one pool to the other at AKL. I will make an inquiry from my castmember friend working at Sanaa. She will know since they also got a tour of the grounds.

...hmmm, I'm rather curious about that one myself...:scratchin

As I noted above the distance will probably be 2/3 of a mile or more depending on room location in Jambo, meaning the walk for about 60% of the distance around the World showcase. There is no plan for a shuttle. They also cannot just put something directly from one building to the other across the savanna which would cut that walk by 60%. Might be able to use park bus from one to the other and back as long as busses vary which building they stop at first. Driving won't make sense, there will be some parking at Kidani but likely mostly taken by residents there. And to walk to your parked car at Jambo and then drive over, find a parking place ... well you can just do the walk quicker. I look at as the walk is not worth the bother to go to a pool but have no problem with it for a dinner reservation. However, it won't really be herculean if you want to do it for the pool (you do 10 times as much walking in a day in a park).

One thing that may effect walking if staying at Kidani and you want to go to Jambo will be the location of your room. If you are in the southern wing of Kidani near the end, you will be fairly close to the front of Jambo, so if they have exit doors you can use there, walk from room to Jambo and back will not be significant. However, if you are in the end of the northern wing of Kidani, the walk to Jambo will be over a mile (I have seen that wing and the walk from the end of it just to the Kidani lobby is going to be greater than 1/4 mile)

...it'd probably be similar to CR, where the 'internal' buses take you from one location to another at that resort...

You have to go outside but the walkway is covered. You can't cut through Boma.

...well, you probably could, but you'd get hurt going through the broken window - besides, you'd get into LOTS of trouble....:rolleyes1

I'd post pics, but I hate dealing with the whole Photobucket thing...what's the newest, easiest way to post them? I have all the pics on Flickr. I know you can do guest passes, but not sure how I would do it here. A penny for anyone's thoughts.

...blah-blah-blah...blah-blah-blah-blah-blah......blah-blah, blah-blah....

I suppose you could cut through the backstage areas too.;)

I don't think the chefs would be happy with that short cut.:rotfl:

Okay, all this Animal Kingdom Lodge talk. I think I may have to go over there this weekend! LOL I'm jonesing.

I hope you went today or will go tomorrow!!! You're our on-the-scene reporter for all thinks AKL!!!

I'm so excited...we are going back to AKL (the villas this time) in Dec again!:woohoo: we'll be there the Dec 13th-18th this time:banana:

My castmember friend says it's a little bit of a hike, but she is still not sure of the security issue. I just can't imagine that you couldn't walk over and use the Kidani pool if you're staying at Jambo House. I can't think of any other instance at other hotels with a similar setup (DVC/regular hotel) that you couldn't. It's like the DVC Villas pool at Beach Club. You can use the Yacht and Beach Club pool or the DVC pool. Or Wilderness Lodge, etc.

He was fine until the Speedo.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

As far as the using the AKV pool if you are at Jambo House, I have read that the short answer is "yes". There is some debate on if you are staying at AKV Jambo, or AKL Jambo - but how are they going to regulate that...maybe by the keys? It will be interesting to find out come May 1!

BensMom - could you, by any chance (ha ha ha) SHARE your AKV Kidani pics??? :flower3: You could just email them to me too. Then you won't be publicly sharing, right??!?! I'm just ITCHING to see it!

I would also love to see your DL pics!

I was thinking the same thing, regarding the AKV pools. Unless over-crowding becomes a problem, why not just let any AKL/AKV guest use either pool?! :goodvibes

I have all 3 lined up for our May/June trip: AKV-Jambo; then AKL-CL; then AKV-Kidani (1-bedroom Savanna view). Will only be at Kidani for 1 night, but will be sure to take lots and lots of pictures! :yay:

Well, I started thinking about my 2010 WDW trip this weekend. :rotfl2: I guess having the DVC member cruise in September and a solo trip in December wasn't enough planning. So it must be time to start working on the 2010 trip? Right?

On that trip, I will be taking my nephew, 13 at the time, to WDW for 8-10 days in August. He is psyched to be heading to WDW without his sister. :rotfl2: My early plans will be to book an AKV SV room in September and then let him decide if he wants to go to a different resort.

RachelTori - can't wait to hear all about Kidani and to see your pics!!

What a great aunt you are!! :goodvibes
I agree! WOW!! :cool2:

Had to share this with you all. I saw it on the photobucket site just now.
