...my, you guys were chatty yesterday and this morning...
Only because of my incessant questioning!!And amazingly, we haven't veered off-topic much either!!![]()
I totally agree! Every now and then I read about people not liking Mara?? I think it's greatBoma and Jiko are great -- but don't forget about The Mara, the counter service. We really like it, and they serve some yummy things in addition to chicken nuggets and fries (I have a 9 year old, lol!). My DH loves the African stew served in a bread bowl. They also have . . . (drum roll) Zebra domes!
Mmmmm, I can't wait for Zebra domes!!!
Before I switched I had already planned an AKL drop in to get some!!Now we can have them daily!
Kimmar, when my DD and I did the Wanyama in July our guide told us that Hartmann Zebra were going to be introduced to the Sunset Savanna. Grant Zebra are still on Arusha. The Hartmann are more dark brown and white. And taller. From a different region of Africa... I know BCV23 did the Wanyama this month so maybe she saw them on Sunset...the zebras are never on the Sunset Savannah...
Well, I hate when people make comments about not liking AKL b/c of the animal smells... it drives me nuts. Don't you love all the spicy, smoky smells from the restauarants and the firepits??...OMG, THAT one made me laugh out loud....![]()
I just realised I didn't officially introduce myself now this thread looks like it'll be a new daily chatting spot for me!
Hi!
I'm Victoria, 23 from Surrey in England (about 30 minutes south of Central London).
I live with my fiance Jack (he proposed in January in Sleeping Beauty's castle DLRP) and our crazy cat Bella.
I went to WDW once when I was 7, but haven't been since (been to DLRP 4 times and DL once) but am very excited to go back!
The reason for this trip is to look at all of the wedding locations are we are having our wedding at WDW.
I originally booked POFQ, but got ants in my pants yesterday and upgraded to AKL, as I really am a deluxe girl when it comes to hotels.
I am currently trying to think of good ways to keep the AKL upgrade a secret from Jack....
My two favourites include:
- telling him there's a DIS meet at AKL on the day we arrive and that we'll miss it if we check in first then go over.
- just pretend the bus to AKL also goes to POFQ and the guy at the ME desk told me to get the AKL bus.
Sorry to have rambled! I'm a little too chatty when it comes to planning holidays. (I'm an obsesive planner and for this trip I have the UG, brits guide to orlando, passporter and TGM).
Very, very good idea...another option you might want to consider is doing a split stay, but for the different room categories. For instance, if you are staying at AKL for 7 days, keep 3 or 4 days at the std room and pay for and switch to, for instance, a pool view for the last part of your vaca....
Only because of my incessant questioning!!![]()
You beat me, Elin!!
Sorry guys - newbie in on the meet! Hope i'm not interfering in on old friends!
Oh my goodness, no!! The more, the merrier!
Besides, you can be our "new" friend!![]()
Yaay! Thanks guys!
My name's Victoria - so at least I won't forget where the meet is!
Kimmar, are you planning a trip to WDW this year? You're due!
...story-of-my-life...
I didn't beat you by much, Laura! Victoria... I suppose that I am the newbie before you. The first I met this bunch was last year so we would love to have another DISer to meet with. I can't imagine that BensMom (Susan) would say "no" to another get together at AKL that Saturday!![]()
ok going back to catch up again!!!
I hear someone is getting married at WDW..woohoo!!

I emailed our dear friend, Diana (DisneyBride'03) - hopefully she'll check in here later today!
Now I really have to go!! (too easy to "play" all day, isn't it?!!)
Oooh, Ashford isn't too far from me at all! Like an hour or so.Welcome Torsie
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and upcoming holiday which I will probably miss !!!Not sure how I can extend my stay past the 29th of Sept to meet the rest of the Jambo Gang!
Torsie, we had lots of fun last year at our meet, although many were missing, including the Queen of this thread, Kimmar
So, did I read AKL may be a wedding locations site?!
I had POFQ booked for our wedding/familymoon and did change to a deluxe too!
I/we are so excited you found us![]()
The best AKL/AKV experts are here.....the nicest bunch...and one DisneyBride! And a soon to be Disney Bride!!!
I met some wonderful people from Ashford, Kent (did I write that wrong?) on our DCL cruise last year...they got engaged on our cruise and are getting married next mth!!! Whilst we were invited (did you like my whilst?! LOL) a London trip was not in the works
Ok I have babbled on long enough!
Oooh, Ashford isn't too far from me at all! Like an hour or so.
Don't worry about not making it to London! All you're missing is crappy weather and miserable people! (Excpet for me! But then DLRP and WDW keep me happy! So nothing to do with London!)
Haha, of course! I love DLRP! It is so beautiful! And because Jack and I have literally had the park to ourselves about 3 times (including the time we got engaged - we were the only people on Main Street and in the castle excpet for a CM!) I feel like it's all mine!!Yes, I hear its quite an easy trip over to DLRP! Once when we entertained the idea, that of course was in the plans!!!![]()
I know someone recently got married in AK, photos on the Root Photography blog, looks amazing!!Does anyone know where the location is at AKL for wedding ceremonies? I cant even remember if that was an option in 03?!
