I changed resorts...so we are checking into AKV Kidani on the 22nd now!

Hi everyone! I saw over on Facebook that Owner's Locker is going to start renting spotters scopes to their customers. I am definitely going to have to try one during my December trip.

I am still lost on FB...lol but what is a spotter scope?

UPDATES ~

A 24-year-old African elephant died last week at Disney's Animal Kingdom after a brief illness. Tumpe, a female brought in 2007 from a zoo in South Carolina, died after suffering from skin sores and gastrointestinal problems for two months. Disney experts believe the problem was isolated and the rest of the herd is safe. There are still 12 elephants in the park.

That is so sad. I really hope the rest of the herd is safe!

Well, I hate when people make comments about not liking AKL b/c of the animal smells... it drives me nuts. Don't you love all the spicy,smoky smells from the restauarants and the firepits??

Haha, of course! I love DLRP! It is so beautiful! And because Jack and I have literally had the park to ourselves about 3 times (including the time we got engaged - we were the only people on Main Street and in the castle excpet for a CM!) I feel like it's all mine!!

I just love it there.

I follow the Root Photography blog! I think their work is AMAZING. Just stunning! If I ever do a vow renwal at Disney, they will be my photographers! I'm tempted to ask them to just do a family shoot at some point when my little guy gets a bit older.

Are king rooms located everywhere? Or only certain parts of the resort?

We had a King in a pool view in 2006.

Thanks for asking! He's doing GREAT. He has a bit of a cough right now with this crazy Minnesota weather. It was in the 60s last week and now we are back to the 20s. But, otherwise, he's learning so many new words and learning how to do things! It's so fun to watch him grow and learn.

Europeans just don't care about EMH! Plus we stayed in the Disneyland Hotel which is on Mainstreet so you get a headstart compared to the other EMH guests, and we were the only people waiting at the gates?!?

Oooh, lucky!! I think I'll see if we can have a nosey at some of the villas/suites as we are considering AKL/AKV for our honeymoon.

I think that this can most likely be arranged. I know someone was able to see a BWI room just by asking at the concierge desk in the lobby. So if you go there, and tell them that you are planning a WDW wedding and consider AKV for your honeymoon, I am sure they will try their best to show a room to you.

I hope this plan works, of course I have to get him conviced about a trip to California in the first place - I already started emailing him prices for flights!

The smell is really wonderful and I love your description of it as being the scent of relaxation - I totally agree! I once was at a restaurant in London and it smelled similar and I really did not want to leave!!

Great pictures!! I did not know that it was so empty at DLRP during EMH. When we were there last, we did have Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast which was great! But it was not that empty when we were on Main Street. I guess it's really because you get a head start at the Disneyland Hotel. They did not let us through security until even a bit after the supposed opening time. But it still was absolutely empty in Fantasyland. We could ride Dumbo three times in a row without getting off!!

Don't worry about it. We are not the "official" AKL thread any longer (note, I said "any longer") so we discuss many topics -- even baseball, right ladies?!! (a rivalry or 2 there!) If the Mods decide we're straying off-topic too much, they can move us back to the CB!

I don't know that we've seen a definitive "yes" to the both pools question, but most of us believe it will be allowed.

There is a walkway between AKL & AKV; and buses will run between the 2 - we just have to figure out which ones stop first at AKL, which stop first at AKV before heading to the parks. We'll know in May!
