A little update............ I don't think we are going to be able to get in on the DVC deal............... - It expires before we could possibly use it. DH is in class (for work) and that will go on until Nov. then they go into an outage till Jan. - which is why we don't have a trip planned for this year. I just don't think there is any way we could swing it. I'm sad about it!!! But, you never know what next year will bring!!! It is a great deal for sure though - why couldn't they have offered it when we could actually DO it!!!!! :confused3

CJ's Mom & Athenna ~ Here's hoping that maybe something will change and you won't have to cancel!!!! pixiedust:

Also, Bensmom ~ Where would you recommend DH and I to have a great dinner - he's a steak kinda guy, but he loves seafood. He's adventurous too though........... (I'm not) he will eat pretty much ANYTHING!!!! ;)

We'd like to have a nice dinner without DS one night. Also, we've eaten at Boma and he didn't like the flavors - so, I'm thinking Jiko might not be to his taste.

Any suggestions?

I am sorry the deal won't work out for you! I am a huge DVC fan. Keep working at it. Something will fit in eventually.

Hmmm...steak? Well, it may surprise you, but the Flying Fish has some of the best steak on property. So, if he also likes his seafood, the Fish may satisfy the both of you. Ask for Bob! (jeez, can you tell I am a Bob fan?). The menu is varied enough to please everyone at the table. Phil has had some business associates roll into town in December, and we brought them to the Fish. Everyone gave it rave reviews.

Jiko is slightly different than Boma. Certainly a different ambiance not being a buffet, but there are similar flavors there that crossover with Boma. Especially after reading all the bad reviews of Jiko, I am gunshy to even suggest it, although it has not been my experience.

I have to say the Fish is my favorite restaurant on property. Believe it or not, I don't like Yachtsman for steak (shocker).

How old is DS again? Forgive me, I don't remember. If you do end up bringing DS to the Fish, they are very accommodating. Ben is such a picky eater, but he eats two bowls of Mickey pasta every time we bring him. He loves it there. The servers treat him like Little Lord Fontelroy!

Bensmom ~ knowing that you are in Celebration............... would you possibly know anything about Champions Gate......... esp. the golf course? DH would like to play there while we are down. I've seen the website, but - I'd like firsthand info if I could get it!

Thanks!!!

ETA - he's mainly interested in the International course.

PERFECT!!!!

Phil has not played ChampionsGate, although I haven't heard anything bad about it. It is a popular course. Check out Celebration Golf Club (www.Celebrationgolf.com) as well. It's a Robert Trent-Jones design. In the past two years, under new ownership, it has undergone extensive renovations. Not that it was bad before, but they have added features to make it World-class. Not sure how greens fees compare, but I believe it's $139 for weekedays at CGC. Phil's favorite course here, by far, is LBV, and he really likes the course at Celebration, if that tells you anything.

Shout if you need anything further. Feel free to PM me as well.

I guess I wanted to be me at one point as well, so when I had a chance to be me, I did it! (does that make any sense?!) :lmao:

It is nice, but I have said in the past, there is nothing like the anticipation of planning a trip to Disney, the excitement of driving (or flying) and getting there after not having been there in a while; checking into a resort and getting to the parks. Ahhhhh, instant relaxation!

It makes perfect sense to me. :goodvibes I just hope that I someday get that chance.

As to the anticipation of a trip, I guess I can understand that. I hate to fly, so I wouldn't miss that so much, lol! I think I'd still have to stay at a resort now and then though. I don't want much, huh? :rotfl2:

I know - hopefully soon we can make the dive into DVC - I'm ready, DH - I think he's "almost" there............. I think if we'd have been able to actually go down this year - especially getting this deal, he'd have done it...... but, alas........ it isn't the right time - when it is, we'll probably do it!! I hope so anyway............ I've told him "it's not like we aren't going to keep going to Disney".............. duh........... :confused3 LOL, but don't worry, I'm gonna keep working on him!!!! ;)

You know - I've heard AWESOME reviews of FF - now with your review I think we'll have to try it. We agree - we felt the Yachtsman was just OK - we've def. had better steaks!
As for DS he'll be 10 next year when we go, I'm sure he'd be fine there...... he has an extensive palette for a little kid - but, I'm thinking we want a "date" night this time.
:rolleyes1

Thank You Darling!!!!! I appreciate it so much!!! I didn't even realize Celebration had a course................. I'll have him check it out!!! DH enjoyed playing Mag. and Palm......... but he's wanting to try some other courses - in fact, I think he may have played LBV?? I'll have to ask him.

Anyway - Perhaps if it's OK - DH could PM Phil about those at some point?? Thanks

Sorry everyone for getting off topic................. back to AKL stuff now!!!!! :goodvibes

I also got an email with an offer to buy into AKLV that said I could save $1,280 or more on my DVC membership. I really, really wanted to do it. My DH even became interested while we were there -- had the audacity to ask me why he's never heard the details. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to direct him to the DVC kisosks, lol. We even had an invitation to a presentation both in our room and from CMs in both Epcot and MK's Frontierland.

But, the deadline was yesterday, and we just couldn't do it right now. I'm hoping they'll continue with incentives. We'l end up paying more, but there's still hope.

Wow - see all these "deals" are killing me!!!!! Pilferk actually sent us some really great info on DVC - so DH has studied that - just getting him to agree to it is another problem........... he HATES to spend money - but oddly enough, he'll let me go all out without batting an eye ... :confused3 I don't know, I think he's still trying to convince himself it's a good thing. I might just have to back off and let him "think" it's HIS idea!!! LOL

Hopefully, it'll work out for you guys too............. but I agree, when the time is right and if it's meant to be, then it will be!!!

Wendy, still crossing my fingers that it will happen for you!:goodvibes

Heh, heh. That's what I do with my DH. I imagine once he realizes how much money it will save us in the long run (because I intend to keep adding Disney trips to each year instead of one per year), he'll decide it's a great idea he had. :rotfl2:

....my DBro' called me last night to tell me that they are FINALLY buying into the whole DVC thing - soooo, they asked for my opinion on whether they should purchase AKL or the newer ones at the Contemporary.......hmmmm, whaddaya think I told them???:rolleyes1

A WDW trip once a year should be written into the Constitution!

I have heard he was named the Executive Chef at Epcot just before the Bocuse d'Or competition in September.

Yeah, thanks. I did some research and found that he was at Epcot. Good, the food needed improving there! He will be in charge of the catering for receptions at the World Showplace as well as the private parties such as IllumiNations dessert parties, etc. We ate at World Showplace one Thanksgiving a few years back (because my oven broke the day before, honest it did) and the food was marginal at best.

GREAT NEWS!!! So, you now have DVC in the family. I can take a wild guess (get it? No pun intended) that you talked them into ANOTHER resort at the end of Osceola Parkway!

....nahhhhhh, the OTHER place - :confused3 hey, don't we want AKV all to ourselves??!?! :rotfl2: :lmao:

LOL - But see, in my case, we've been going at least twice a year!!! So, I mean it's Waterford clear to me that we NEED to buy DVC................ :confused3
