Tuesday morning when I was drinking my coffee and eating breakfast it was -22.


NEGATIVE TWENTY-TWO.

And that's NOT the wind chill. That's the real temp.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is supposed to be "the coldest day in 5 years". That means lower than -22! If that is even possible!!!!!!! It's currently -20. I think I may turn into an ice cube soon.

So even if it's 40 next week down in FL, I'll be in the SSR pool!

But then, my parents just called me to tell me that they got a letter from a woman who was in the same class in our school as our Russian exchange student Olessia who stayed with us in 1991/92. They were friends then but everyone had lost touch with Olessia and now they met by chance in the bathroom at a hotel in Turkey!!!

WOW! That's incredible!!

Brookelizabeth, I do know what you're going through. I survived several brutal winters in Minnesota and South Dakota -- even spent one winter in Grand Forks, ND! Who knew it could get that cold?!! My first winter in MN, my car transmission froze and my vinyl seats split (OK, so this was many years ago!! )

Stay warm, stay safe and know that we are thinking of you - although I'm not going to feel too sorry for you, seeing how you'll be in WDW next week!! Oh, and your cold is heading to Georgia (thanks a lot!) - although we'll be in the single digits, it won't have a " - " behind it!!

Hi BensMom, thanks for the advice! We have an ADR for Kona, we have been twice and really like the place! However, I don't really find anything on the menu right now that I really have to eat, I am thinking of ordering two appetizers instead. They would let me do that, won't they?

I hope I will get to experience the pool bar! Not sure we will make it to the Tambu Lounge, it always seemed extremely crowded when we were at the Poly.

Of course, you can eat appetizers only! It's Disney. You can do anything you want! Yay! Phil eats nothing but appetizers sometimes because of his gastric bypass surgery 6 years ago. They've never yelled at him!

Tambu Lounge is always crowded with people waiting for their tables at O'Hana. Especially right now, since Tambu has that TV, with the football playoffs and all the college stuff going on, it's hard to "belly up to the bar."

I saw that (and read Ben's Mom's info about it) and wondered if the changeover happened before Christmas? Might explain why so many of us had some bad experiences there last month!

I don't think it's that. There is a chef there named David. He was there when Anette was there. He actually changed some of the dishes, for the better IMHO, like the shrimp dish. He is still there, so that tells me there SHOULD be some consistency. I wasn't aware that Brian left (shame on me). But, again, I am not sure this should have changed things a great deal. I am just hoping, for you, that it was a fluke.

So, now I am wondering where Jens went! Hmmm...

We have not been up to Cali Grill in a while. That's one that is inconsistent and just a PITA to get a ressie, like Fort Knox sometimes.

I agree 100% with your admiration of Walter. We had an enjoyable couple of evenings with him serving us at the Tambu Lounge during our September and October trip at the Poly.

and it's funny, all the managers, bartenders and servers who have been at WDW for a long time, they all know each other. They all trade places and work with each other. It's like a giant merry-go-round, they each get off at different stops and then get on and off and on and off! So, if we like a manager or a server, we tend to follow them around and visit. Disney has a bunch of great people working there. A handful have become our friends outside of the "World," and that is a very cool thing.

A little update............ I don't think we are going to be able to get in on the DVC deal............... - It expires before we could possibly use it. DH is in class (for work) and that will go on until Nov. then they go into an outage till Jan. - which is why we don't have a trip planned for this year. I just don't think there is any way we could swing it. I'm sad about it!!! But, you never know what next year will bring!!! It is a great deal for sure though - why couldn't they have offered it when we could actually DO it!!!!!

Also, Bensmom ~ Where would you recommend DH and I to have a great dinner - he's a steak kinda guy, but he loves seafood. He's adventurous too though........... (I'm not) he will eat pretty much ANYTHING!!!!

We'd like to have a nice dinner without DS one night. Also, we've eaten at Boma and he didn't like the flavors - so, I'm thinking Jiko might not be to his taste.

I guess I wanted to be me at one point as well, so when I had a chance to be me, I did it! (does that make any sense?!)

It is nice, but I have said in the past, there is nothing like the anticipation of planning a trip to Disney, the excitement of driving (or flying) and getting there after not having been there in a while; checking into a resort and getting to the parks. Ahhhhh, instant relaxation!

Bensmom ~ knowing that you are in Celebration............... would you possibly know anything about Champions Gate......... esp. the golf course? DH would like to play there while we are down. I've seen the website, but - I'd like firsthand info if I could get it!
