AKL LITE II - We're #2, but we try harder....

Anyone been on this lately? I was wondering how much walking was involved. We would like to take my father, but he cannot walk far without taking time to rest. I remember a walk from the bus to the ride, but not sure how much time/rest area there would be. Do you think they would let us rent an ECV at the park if he wanted one?

Oh, just booked today! DSis and I are going with our parents. We finally convinced them to go even if they wouldn't be running around the parks. So much to do at the resorts!

Thanks to the AKL IPO. All ADRs and Request made today.

Taking my family in September.

First time for Wishes Cruise.

Going to the Waterpark and they reserved me a Cabana. I have to stay out of the sun but I did not want to miss time with my family.:wizard:

Sounds great!! I have read about the Cabanas! If you have to stay out of the sun, this sounds like a great idea to book one of those! Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

No trip report yet -- but a few AK pics from my trip for practice:

Hi again everyone :wave2:

My girlfriend and I got back from our AKL stay a couple weeks ago and we had one of the best times that we've ever had there. We had a great savanna view on the Sunset Savanna. The only animals that didn't close to our window was the zebras. I need to make a trip report when I get a chance, but I'll talk about about some of the highlights here.

We did the Wanyama Safari while we were there (on a Saturday) and we were the only two on the safari. We got to walk all around the safari truck to take pictures and on our little picnic break in the middle of the safari, we got the food pretty much all to ourselves. Got plenty of great shots that I'll have to post later. Jiko was also great with portions that could have easily fed a group of 4-5, all for just us two.

We did our first Disney water park, Typhoon Lagoon, and had a blast (considering that the both of us can't swim :p); got to ride the Characters in Flight at DTD; took the sea raycers out for a little bit at the Polynesian and got sunburned; had great views for Wishes (directly in the front of the castle at the Walt and Mickey statue; took great character pictures thanks to the Character Dining at Crystal Palace and Garden Grill; and started a new Disney collection, Vinylmation.

Here's a sample of pictures from our vacation..

JEALOUS! We had 13 people on our Wanayama Safari (including 3 kids) when we went a couple weeks ago on a Friday.

Another question for you AKL usuals....I know there are coffee pots in the rooms. Is this (gasp...sorry)....Nescafe coffee? If I bring my own coffee, should I bring special filters?

Does Mara serve Nescafe as well? If not, then I will just buy the mugs and fill-er-up every morning.

Thanks

Most of WDW does serve nescafe...:confused3-i agree with you it is pretty dreadful-although you can splurge on a French Press coffee at Boma or Jiko...:cool1:

You need to bring No.2 flat bottomed coffee filters and whatever coffee you prefer-someone mentioned earlier that you might be able to get some at Zawadi Marketplace-but you never know if they'll change that...

(you could always hi tail it over to the Poly-they sell a Kona blend and a pure Kona---really good but pretty $$$-you can also get a French Press there in Kona plus the Poly also has a coffee bar...so does the Contemporary...)

....:cool1: since my middle DS had visited WDW [back in Feb] he has been getting emails from WDW...he told my DH about a recent one; he was offered a deal at AKL for $159/nite in Sept INCLUDING MEALS AND PH passes!! My DH is actually considering it!! :woohoo: ....hey, wait a sec - what am I getting so worked up??? He does this ALL THE TIME and then shoots me down at some future point.....

Hi guys! Great thread, but very long... We just added two nights at AKL; switiching from CBR. Extremely excited. We have savanah view, but wondering what else should we ask for or make sure we do during our two days at AKL?

....go to the phone RIGHT NOW and make ADR's for BOMA!!! [ :teeth: ]

OK, so at first I thought your "news" was going to be something about a brother or sister for Henry!! :rotfl2:

Then I see it's about adding another WDW trip!

I do believe you have joined the ranks of those of us who are obsessed with Disney!! :rotfl:

:lmao:

Fingers crossed!!! pixiedust:

I was booked into a standard room; under the code I had, there were no pool view rooms with 2 queen beds (only bunk beds). But I was just able to upgrade to pool view, 2 queen beds with the AP discount! I requested Zebra Trail, upper floor. Is this a good location? Does it get noisy with a pool view?

TIA!

...a good choice - nice location, and, no, not too noisy...

At least book it so you can get the discount! And consider going w/o DH. I won't go with my hubbie or boys again as they are just not interested anymore. Next trip is a short one with my parents and sister!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Great coffee info....just what I needed. I will have to see if I have any of the coffee filters now....if not, off to the store I go before my trip (I still have a few months to plan) ha ha.:rolleyes1

....can't.....it's like: HE doesn't want to go, but doesn't want ME to go and enjoy myself either.....not that he'd actually come out and say it, but living with him would be H*LL!
