Hello,
Just got back from a great stay at the AKl pool view. We had a great room and also got a chance to see Kadani Village. I was so excited. I had said to my DH i hoped we might get to preview this section during our stay.
What a special experience to have a personal tour of the place. I forgot my camera so i was mad about not being able to take pictures.
Kadani village was great. The rooms look very nice and we are now considering DVC.
Also i asked the guide about a walkway between Jambo house and Kadani and yes there is one and it would take you about 10 min to walk between the two.

How cool to be able to take a tour! We're going in June (on the budget plan so staying at Pop this time), but I hope to get over to AKL and tour Kidani. And, you'll just have to go back so you can take pictures!

Lucky, lucky! I can't wait to see Kidani for myself

Hope everyone is well on this lovely sunny Friday morning (well sunny here at least-it's been a kind of raining month- so its good to see the sun)...:goodvibes

I've been back reading the whole thread and still have a few ?'s....

1. Am I correct in my interpretation that the Sunrise Safari ($65 ish) is only available to Concierge guests but the evening Safari which is more expensive and open to anyone on a first booking basis but more $ for non concierge guests...like $210-not sure I'm going to convince DH on that one since we are supposed to be staying in budget...:confused3-let's face it-I got lucky on this one-we weren't even supposed to be going but for free dining and an airline credit-so I feel fortunate we're going and staying in AKL:thumbsup2 considering the current economy and I did fenangle that extra night...still...the safaris do sound cool...

2. I read way back in the thread that Donald is #1 got something called an Indaba plate-looked really yummy with animals chocolates and cookies as a treat-is that still available, how $ and how do you get one....(DH usually gets me flowers for the room -but I think this is something the four of us could all enjoy...)

3. I am a really bad photographer-I usually hate to stop and read instructions and my lack of skill is an ongoing joke in my family:laughing:...I'd really love to be able to take tons of photos and write a trip reports BUT I need to brush up on photography 101-since I have a birthday coming up does anyone have a suggestion for a good moderately priced (under $300) camera that is "user friendly" and a book or website that could help me take good -even better-photos without having to go off back to school without taking a photography major...

Hope everyone has a happy, healthy day...:flower3:

Maybe we can have a coffee (good coffee of course) and zebra dome break later in the day...:yay:

1. Yes, you are correct that the SS is only for CL guests. And the WS is open to all, with a higher charge if you are not staying CL. I agree with you that the price of the WS is pretty high!:scared1: I was thinking about booking it, but the $600 or so it would cost for the 3 of us is what's keeping me away.:sad2: I understand it comes with a dinner at Jiko, but we can do that for $100 or less.

Depending on what kind of room you have booked and what price you're paying for it, it may cost less to stay CL and do the SS (It did for us).

2. It was reported earlier that the Indaba is no longer available at AKL...:sad2:

3. I don't have any advice on this one. Our photos did not come out very good and I'm thinking about getting a better camera.:)

:rotfl2: That is completely what I was thinking about when I posted that this morning! :rotfl:

Um . . . yeah, about those. :) I sort of owe you guys more from December, right? I have a problem with where I have those stored. I can't get them to show up so I need to move them to Photobucket or somewhere.

Wow, that must have been awesome! Be careful if you decide to buy DVC... It can be very addicting! :rotfl2: Seriously, I love my DVC membership and many of us on this thread are DVC members. So if you have any questions please ask.

There is actually a photography thread on the DISboards that has a lot of helpful information. Before I went in 2006, I was looking for a camera that was a little more sophisticated, but still poin-and-shoot, and they were able to steer me to a camera that I am still happy with.
