Wierd huh? He's wanted them for ages though.

Those have to be the most interesting shoes I have ever seen... You could leave BigFoot footprints with those!

Hahaha, that's the one thing he hasn;t mentioned actually!! He likes them as now he feels it gives him 'super feet' - he really wants to go rock climbing in them, I think he thinks its going to make him spider man or something.....

They do look super comfy!!

I'm off to bed everyone! Sorry that I keep chatting your thread off topic!!! Have a lovely Friday evening! Night night, xxxxx

I've never seen anything like them!! Can Jack walk in them?!!

Laura - hope you don't get any flooding!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Luckily we live on a big hill, I am very scared of floods!

Thanks, Torsie. We'll be fine here. It's the people in the midwest who are really suffering. Here's an article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090327/ap_on_re_us/midwest_flooding

:sad1:

BVC23, I can see your argument. Since I am not a DVC owner, I might really have read to much into the Jambo House term. :goodvibes Personally, I would really prefer it to be open to all guests at both parts of the resort. I seem to remember that at one point there was a rumor that Kidani might as a whole only be open to DVC members. Since they are taking reservations for Sanaa now, this obviously was not going to happen!!

Flossbolna, one other thing about the verbiage. If the guy had been speaking only to DVC owners, he probably would have used terminology like "DVC owners and their guest." They're big on that.:goodvibes

The weather system that's wreaking havoc in Kansas now (blizzard conditions????) is heading toward Georgia for tomorrow - but it will be rain, wind, possibly thunderstorms and a slight possibility of a tornado or 2. We've had plenty of rain the past 3 days -- the ground just can't hold anymore.

I'm sure you've all heard about the flooding in Fargo, ND & Moorhead, MN. I think they need our prayers and good thoughts. Unfortunately, they haven't seen the worst of it yet. Our daughter, Rachel, was born in Fargo - we feel a strong affection for that area. :grouphug:

Is the drought in GA a thing of the past now?

You're so right about ND and that whole area.:sad2: Prayers are needed.

All DVC resorts will have non-DVC guests staying there so they realistically could never say "DVC Only". There are a certain number of rooms that do not belong to DVC members, they're retained by Disney for paying guests (through Disney's reservation system). I don't remember the percentage offhand; do any of you other DVCers know? Also, DVC turns rooms over to Disney which are then booked through CRO and can not be rented using DVC points. (I probably didn't explain that too well! :rotfl:)

Sammie posted very recently...it was much lower than guesstimates I'd seen posted in the past. I wish I had written it down but I think he said 1.? %.

Thanks for the pictures, johnsonet.

torsie24, those are some shoes!:goodvibes

We're not in the "extreme" or "exceptional" category anymore, but Lake Lanier (the main water source for the Atlanta area) is still down over 12 ft. This rain is definitely helping - except the ground can't absorb much when it comes down this heavily.

That is lower than I thought too. :confused3

Thanks for the pictures, johnsonet.
Yes, johnsonet - love those pictures; makes me glad I'll be back there in 2 months! :cloud9:

I am still lost on FB...lol but what is a spotter scope?

It is a high power telescope that you can use to see the animals up close. I saw people using when I went to Yellowstone in '07 and I thought that they were great to see the animals.

Awesome pictures!

Don't worry about it. We are not the "official" AKL thread any longer (note, I said "any longer") so we discuss many topics -- even baseball, right ladies?!! :rotfl: (a rivalry or 2 there!) If the Mods decide we're straying off-topic too much, they can move us back to the CB! ;)

Baseball? Did someone say baseball???

Go Sox!!!

You guys are right about DVC not jsut being for owners, looking on the UK WDW site, I could have booked a stay at SSR/OKW for the same price I've paid for AKL for my upcoming trip (or AKV for more ££)- so I would get to use the DVC pools, and would presumably just have a reguler KTTW and nothing to show my DVCship if only DVC owners could use a certain pool....

...:rotfl2: you Brits, with your dry sense of humor (or should I say 'humour'...??) :lmao:

Phew, I had lots of catching up to do!!! :rotfl:

Hi all!!!

I just upgraded our hotel for out Oct trip to AKL and am sooooooooo excited!!

Hi torsie! Good for you! You will LOVE AKL! :thumbsup2

I live with my fiance Jack (he proposed in January in Sleeping Beauty's castle DLRP) and our crazy cat Bella....The reason for this trip is to look at all of the wedding locations are we are having our wedding at WDW. :)

That's so neat! :woohoo:

Wonder what that price would be for Cinderella Castle and the wedding night IN the castle?!:rolleyes1

:cloud9:

[EDIT: Just looked online adn the ceremony in MK is $28k - not too bad!!!)

There are other styles too. Am I the only one who finds these to look uncomfortable?? :confused3

These are quite possibly the strangest shoes I have ever seen. No offense to your Jack, torsie!

I saw an article about shoes like this very recently. The writer said he/she found them a bit difficult to put on but that they were very comfortable to wear.

I understand what you mean. I just always thought that the rooms you can get as a non-DVCer were just the ones that DVC turned over to Disney. I did not know that Disney actually retained rooms.

Crazy! Torsie you will have to keep us informed how Jack likes them in the long run. I wonder wether they won't give you blisters between your toes?? The Japanese actually have socks that would go with the shoes... you can get them at Epcot :goodvibes

And to be a bit on-topic as well - on the other AKL thread there was a discussion that the Indaba (brownies, cookies and chocolate animals) that you could get from room service was discontinued!! :scared1: I think it is such a shame that they do away with these lovely individual touches... :sad1:

12 feet down. Wow.:sad2:

It was close to 20 ft down last year -- that was when we thought Atlanta could possibly run out of water  -- so it has gotten better (of course we only bathe/shower once a week now!! :lmao:)

Oh, good...another White Sox fan!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

;)

2 "Sox" - now where's Kimmar to "show the love" for the Yankees?

Torsie - I hope Jack will wear them for our Meet! I think I need to see them in action to fully appreciate them! ;)

Hi, Flossbolna! :wave2: Lots of those little touches seem to be going away lately. :sad1: Hoping that better economic days will eventually bring back some of those "special" things. :flower3:

By the way, "toe socks" were all the rage a couple of years ago with my DD15's friends. Then they all figured out how uncomfortable they were! Those were "cotton" though which even sounds uncomfortable!!

Morning everyone! (Although I'm sure you're all still sleeping)

Jack has been wearing the shoes for the last while (they look very fetching with his dressing gown (bath robe). He also keeps putting his feet against things (on the wall, in the bath while I'm in it etc.) to see how much grip they give him.

We live in the woods so he's going to go and see if there's a tree he can climb later.....oh dear.

Laura - I would be very surprised if he doesn't wear the shoes to the meet, but I'll make sure he does for you!
