AKL Giraffes- Not on Arusha

Just a heads up if you’re staying in a Savannah view room at Jambo and giraffes are important to you: there are currently no giraffes on the Arusha Savannah due to horticultural work.

We are currently in a Kudu trail room overlooking Arusha and confirmed with a couple different cast members that they are temporarily absent (not sure for how long) because they are very sensitive to changes and/or because they could interfere with whatever work is being done. A big disappointment for us as we love our morning coffee on the balcony with the giraffes. But, there are still zebras and other animals and the resort is as beautiful as ever.

There are giraffes on the Sunset and Uzima savannahs, so request a room there if you want to be able to see them from your room.

That's disappointing, but always what's best for the animals first! Hope the changes are done quickly and the giraffes can get back to their regular savanna...... Watching giraffes on the savanna in the morning is one of our favorite things to experience, too......

We stay at Jambo quite frequently lol and just came back on Monday. Imagine our surprise Monday morning when out looking at the Uzima savanna (we were initially looking at the flamingos) we realized there were SEVEN giraffes out! There are never that many giraffes out on that savanna! We asked one of the cultural representatives, and he did tell us that the giraffes that are usually on Arusha were temporarily on Uzima. It was quite a sight! Such a treat since that was our last few minutes before we headed for the airport.
