AKL for only two nights???

We are flying into Orlando late (11pm) Friday night and need a place to stay for Fri and Sat until we check into our timeshare on Sunday.

We have a ressie at the HIFS, for a great rate ($102), but I am a little worried about the construction, as well as the quantity of small kids (we are travleing with my mom and dad) and I've heard their pool closes more than I'd like for "poopy" accidents.

I've looked into the Peabody ($150 per night) but it doesn't do alot for me. I've also looked at Gaylord Palms, which I liked, but it's $169 per night. For $20 per night, we can stay at AKL ($187)

Basically, we'll arrive after midnight Friday and then check out as late as we can on Sunday (probably check out and then hang at the pool)

Are we crazy to do this for one night? We are flying in early to acclimate to the time change......will relax and hang at the pool for the most part, nothing fancy.

It's a great resort to hang out at. There's lots of stuff for kids & adults to do and so cozy and relaxing. We're staying two nights at the end of our DVC stay and plan to spend a whole day just hanging out at the lodge. We stayed there for 8 nights once and just loved it. I say go for it. You won't be sorry, for sure.

I think that you won't be disappointed with AKL. It is a great place to hang out. I have stayed there and I wish that I would have had more time to lounge around and hang out at the resort.

I'm going to vote for the Gaylord Palms. I've stayed at both and the Gaylord Palms really wowed me, with their four different atria.

We only stayed 1 night at AKL and it was enough for us. We got to see all the different animals in our savannah and got to explore the resort. If your just going to hang out it's not a bad idea. We found this resort very crowded though. The pool was more crowded at AKL than SAB at the BC.
