We are staying concierge in Sept. I requested a king bed room with a view of Arusha savannah.
Will we be on zebra trail or should I request that also???

Hi dansyr,

Both the Kudu Trail and the Zebra Trail have a view of the Arusha Savanna. I would request a view of the Arusha Savanna and a king bed and leave it at that. If you request a trail also you run the risk of getting your trail request and not your savanna request as the zebra trail also overlooks the Uzima savanna.

We stayed AKL Concierge in Feb of this year and will be going back in Jan 2004. It is great. We were on the Zebra trail with a view of the Arusha Savanna. Great view.

I'm going in July with DH, 4 kids, DSIL & DBIL. We've got two rooms reserved already and asked for them to be adjoining.

Does anyone know if all the adjoining rooms are 2Q/1K or 1Q-1BB/1K? We're spreading out the kids and don't want to leave DSIL & DBIL stuck sleeping in a King with 2 kids. (DS-8,3 &1 & DD-5). We're close but I think that's asking too much from them.

DH doesn't think the BB are a good idea for us. Has anyone here used them? Your thoughts?

Thanks!

First off, there are only about 20 rooms in the entire resort with king beds, so your chances of getting a king are VERY slim. It is a request only. If you have a medical need for a king, you must state it on the reservation--in which case you will likely be assigned a handicapped room which will likely have a roll in shower and no tub.

Next, adjoining means next door or near each other, not connecting. If you want connecting you must say so using the word connecting!

Next, you've got 4 adults and four kids. The AKL rooms only sleep four plus an infant, unless you have a deluxe room in which case it's five plus an infant. It doesn't sound like you've got deluxe rooms booked. So they will assign rooms based on two adults and two kids in each...meaning that you will not get a king room. The king rooms only have a king bed, they only sleep two people.

You might want to look at a 2BR suite--king in the master BR, sleeper sofa in the LR, queen and set of bunks in the other BR. The bunks have rails so falling out is difficult at best. They would be great for the 8 and 5 year olds.

Hi Cart Mom,

We just got back from AKL. I was travelling with my MIL and DH, myself and 4 kids ( 15,15,4 and 2)

I requested connected rooms because I didn't want to be separated from the kids (even though the older two would be sharing with my MIL). I also explained that I needed the bunks because my 15 year olds are boy/girl and couldn't share a bed.

Well I did get everything I requested.

My thoughts on the bunks - the 8 year old would be ok on the top bunk. Your 3 year old could be fine on the bottom. They are kind of high but are fully surrounded with rails. They are pretty cool. My guys loved them, but I definitely wouldn't let my little guys sleep on them.
