Hi all....Going to the BWV's soon. My parents have graciously offered to treat to AKL Concierge for a couple nites prior to the Boardwalk. We have never stayed concierge before. Any feedback on this and is it worth the $550.00 she was quoted? It will be beginning of April so I know its prime season. Thanks all for the replys.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it for one night. Two nights, yes, but unless she has an AP rate I don't see how that could be two nights.

This is just our own opinion, but while we found the Poly Concierge to worth every penny and more, we would probably not choose AKL concierge again. We just didn't spend that much time in the concierge lounge. We were too busy enjoying the rest of the resort. We found the Poly lounge more a place that we preferred to relax in during our down time. The AKL concierge was very convenient for breakfast, but otherwise we enjoyed being elsewhere at the resort. Don't get me wrong, the staff was wonderful. Perhaps for an extended stay we would feel differently. But for just two nights, I wouldn't do it again.

But, if the folks are treating ya'll!

(I'm paying $450 with a small discount for the Poly concierge
during April, too!)

ENJOY!!!

AKL Concierge is fabulous!
Just make time to enjoy all the amenities!

Last time we were there
(we stayed there twice in conc last year!)
the head chef from Bomas prepared a wonderful
meal for us in the lounge!
Complete with dessert and all!

I like to sample all of WDW's deluxe resorts and now that I've
discovered concierge...

Life is too short to let this "treat" pass you by!

Have fun!:D

That's true, if the folks are paying for it:)

My parents would choke--they would choke if they knew I paid $315/night at the Poly in December. They were talking about someone they knew paying $150/night in Hong Kong and how outrageous that was and I was just nodding and shoveling more Christmas dinner in my mouth.

sorry all...its $550 PER NITE   I could never spend that kind of money...but she watched it on the travel channel yesterday :p :p and thought it was absolutely beautiful and my 4 yr old started going crazy over the animals. We would probably spend alot of time on that beautiful balconey and do the sunrise saffari and Animal Kingdom one day. The second day would be for relaxing and checking out the pool I think. DVC'rs don't get to pool hop to AKL so it might be a nice treat  :D What kind of food do they offer at the concierge? My dd who is four is a terrible eater??

(the "D" is for "dupa"!)

The sunrise safari is worth every penny !
Simply wonderful!

Your 4yo will have plenty to eat...those uncrustables are at the AKL, too!;)

HAVE FUN!:bounce:

My kids, two picky eaters, found plenty to eat. They had all sorts of pastries and donuts and fruit and yogurt, not to mention hot chocolate for breakfast. My son lives on those crustables. Just don't let the kids eat the chocolates--fortunately I bit into one just before my daughter did--they're laced! The pool is wonderful for a little one--if she's brave the slide is just right. My 5 year old daughter went down it constantly for hours. She was too scared of the Poly slide and my son was too scared of both--he's a big chicken.

Yes, BT, sad but true, I'm 36 years old and afraid to tell my parents how much I spent at Disney. It annoys the crap out of my husband. I haven't told them yet we're going back at Thanksgiving because they just won't get it. They'll just make some comment about how they spent their money differently when we were kids, putting it away for our college educations and so forth.

That's it!
LOL!!!

Just don't let the kids eat the chocolates--fortunately I bit into one just before my daughter did--they're laced!

No wonder my DS slept so well every night!

Here's my review of Poly Concierge!

We moved resorts after 3 days of asking if something could be done about the smell. The coincierge staff didn't do a thing. We moved to AKL concierge for the same price thankfully and had a much better experience. We were 3rd floor but walked through the first floor on our way back from the TTC and it even smelled worse. AKL concierge told us they were closing down those buildings for renovation because of the mold problem. BLECH! Plus I got a rash on my feet from walking in the lake! The conceirge lounge staff was always friendly and the breakfast and snacks were tasty but like I said we WILL not stay there again.

ANyways...... AKL concierge is great!!!! They were so friendly and the room was gorgeous! We were right next to the V.P suite... (sorry don't know the name) and they were obviously having a party (due to walking out to room service with 24 beers and a bottle of vodka) ANyways never heard a peep! Room serivce food was incredible...we actually skipped a day and just ate, sat on our balcony and watched the animals. Two things that were differevt from the Poly 1) no toothbrushes....LOl i couldn't figure this out and 2) They don't leave anything out in the lounge. At the Poly even at 2 am there were still cookies and soda and water out. Although I wouldn't trade those things to stay at the Poly again....... We sure as heck can't afford AKL concierge again (we got a GREAT rate...same as Poly concierge that I had used a code for) but if someone was paying for it we'd be there in a heartbeat!

BT--actually, you are right, they are called uncrustables. Sure wish we could buy them at the grocery store here because that's what my son buys every day at lunch.

Ah, too late about the chocolates, huh?

Preshi--my friend laurenk was at the Poly concierge same time we were and she ended up moving over to Yacht and Beach--her housekeeping was horrible! But she loved Y&B.

HI:

At the poly concierge, is there coffee, fruit juices and fruit, available all day?

Also can you use the 5p.m. to 7 snacks for a meal, I see there are things like lasagna, chicken faitas. The only day that I don't think I would like would be the sushi, and shrimp night.

Do they look down on an adult if you grab a sandwich from the kids area?

I am trying to decide if the extra cost will help cut down eating in restaurants. I probably would not use any concierge staff to make any priority reservations, just enjoy the resort and the snacks offered.

Deb.

Hello again, I forgot to ask what uncrustables are?

Also is the yogurt in little containers, or one huge bowl that you dish out yourself.

Sorry to ask so many questions.

Info coming in is wonderful!! Thank you so much!! Oh yeah...one more thing...TOOTHBRUSHES??? As I said we've never stayed concierge before

It is worth every penny...I wish someone would offer this as a treat for me. I would go back in a heartbeat!

My first concierge stay is coming in October. AKL deluxe savannah view concierge.

So it seems that I am paying an extra 50 points, I am using DVC points, I am paying these extra points to have snacks outside of my room.......and the ability to go on a Sunrise Safari, is that actually it????

cottontail--I can't remember about coffee since I don't drink it, but there were sodas, bottled water, juices and lemonade available all day, as well as fruit, cookies and candies. We had yogurt in the containers at AKL but I don't remember it being offered at the Poly. It may have been, but I don't remember that being the case. Uncrustables are pre-packaged peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. They're round with no crust. I saw plenty of adults having ham and cheese sandwhiches from the kids' table--the chef was absolutely wonderful. If he saw us hanging out, but not snacking on anything, he would come over and try to get us to try some of his food or ask if there was anything else he could make us. The lounge staff was also very accommodating. We had several nights where we had eaten a large lunch and only wanted a light dinner. One night they had nachos, another night wings, another night a lo mein type of dish. They also served cheeses and crackers, vegetables and desserts. Several evenings we were at the pool and were able to go up to the lounge to get some drinks and desserts to bring back to the pool. And, yes, they had toothbrushes in the bathroom among the toiletries, but not at AKL.

Rich--I think if you're staying a full week at AKL you'll get more use of the lounge than we did. We did enjoy breakfast there both mornings--baked goods, yogurts, fruit, bagels, that type of thing. It was very convenient to just go down to the lounge and have breakfast waiting for us before heading off to the parks. I'll miss that in our upcomng trip. Be sure to ask the staff what time they'll be doing the children's activity. The first afternoon they did cookie decorating and the second afternoon they did Christmas ornament decorating. My kids really enjoyed that. During the day they have drinks and snacks out--I wasn't there for that, but I've heard it's chips, maybe candy, not sure. At dinner they had cheeses and crackers, fruits, and several African type of foods--spicy meats on skewers. We tried Boma and Jiko while there so we didn't take advantage of the dinner offerings. We also never made it over for the desserts, but I've heard they're very good. One reason I wanted to do concierge there is my husband loves to try different wines and I'd heard they had some African wines out. But they only had one type out, so not as much selection as at the Poly. Also, with sodas, you have to ask and they'll bring a glass of soda out to you. At the Poly, we were encourage to take bottled waters to the parks with us as we walked out the door. But I think you'll love AKL--we thought it was beautiful and couldn't get enough of walking around looking at everything. Also, it has a wonderful gift shop.

Am I misunderstanding some of the previous posts or are the following things true for AKL concierge guests?
1. Room service is included (and if so, what items?).
2. There are special activities for children staying in concierge

Thanks in advance for any info.:)

Room service for concierge guests is the same as room service for non-concierge. For concierge, there's a lounge on the sixth floor to enjoy the offerings listed above. They have tables, chairs, a couch, a tv with kid-oriented movies or shows, as well as food and drink. The lounge overlooks the main lobby.

When we were there they had an activity for the kids each afternoon--I'd say around 2 or 3-ish. My kids really enjoyed it. They also have children's activities by the pool for all kids staying at AKL. I don't know if this is done every day, but the particular day we were there they were decorating t-shirts.

Some of the concierge rooms give toothbrushes. We got them at the BWI, but not the GF or AKL. THey are just a plain toothbrush in the signature black and white Mickey packaging.

The yogurt at AKL is in individual packages.

Room service is NOT included.

The activities for the kids are coloring and small craft projects.

At AKL if you are a concierge guest you can take the sunrise safari at extra cost (well worth it)

Personally the food offered is NOT enough to skip meals, except breakfast. If you've had a big lunch, maybe you can skip dinner. But the food offered is not meant to be a replacement for dinner, just more like appetizers.

If you have breakfast there, and some wine and appetizers before dinner, then concierge might be worth it.

IMHO NO ROOM anywhere is worth $550 a night! (And I mean anywhere!!)

Anne
