This will be our first time staying at the concierge level at the AKL and of course we can't wait. Any advice on correct tipping policy would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Disney SOP's prohibit Concerige CM's from direct cash tipping....while some resort management teams may be more *flexible* on this then some other resorts ..... generally a well written letter complimenting any CM who performs 'above and beyond' will go into their personal file and will be a key factor in matters of promotion/compensation etc. also, there is a drawing (each month I think) for $500 for CM's who have received such letters.

Having said this.... a little gift like some candy or a card or a flower is never out of place!

Mousekeeping and turndown service...

$1-$2 a person per day is appropriate for mousekeeping.

$3 per evening for the turndown service.

Have a great time!! :D

I took a gift basket with products from my home state when I stayed at concierge.

I have never stayed at the concierge level at WDW but I have stayed on the concierge level at many high end hotels. I do not tip the professional staff. These are generally the person sitting behind a desk who checks people in, makes reservations, etc. However, I always leave a tip for the "housekeeping" or server staff in the lounge if they have done something for me. If they clear my breakfast dishes, refill my coffee, fetch me extra napkins in the concierge lounge. I usually leave a small tip of $1 or $2 per person.

I was given a great idea by ducklite.

I bought a basket of chocolates and crackers from Godiva to give to the concierge crew at AKL for our stay in May.

What do get for turn down service that you would tip $3 for that but only $1-$2 for maid service?

I think their point was to tip $1-2/person for the maid, but $3 total for turndown.

The maid should clean the room, vacuum the floors, and make up the beds each day, the amount of work, towels, bedding, etc. will be significantly impacted by the number of people in the room.

The turndown service person will come in, replace any used towels, turn down the covers on the bedding, and leave chocolates on the pillows. They will also lay out the robes if you are on concierge floor, etc.

Either or both of these CM's may leave extra little touches - cards, towel animals, etc. depending on their time available and temperament. You may wish to adjust your tips to the level of service you receive.

The actual concierge staff are not allowed to accept cash tips.

I always give the concierge staff Godiva chocolates at the end of the stay :)

I meant per person for the maid service, so my family of 5 I would leave $5-$10 a day for the maid. Usually the turndown person is not the same person as the maid, so that is why it's nice to leave a tip for them too.

Sherry I love your idea for a gift basket of your home state items, nice touch!

Thank you all so much for the great ideas on tipping. Sounds like the concierge staff gets a lot of chocolate:D The "home state" gift basket is really outstanding. Thanks again for the help!

The gift basket or chocolates both sound like a good idea. How and when do go give it to the staff in the concierge area, especially if the staff person you interacted with the most is not available? Any other good ideas? Thanks..
