I cannot sing the praises of the Sunset Safari enough! I would think surprising someone with this would be out of this world!
We went in March. It was just DD23 and I and another couple. It is a max of 8 and over 16 years old. You drive around the savannahs all over the hotel. It was so much fun. We have so many great pics. They stop the van and let you take as many as you want.
The giraffes came so close you could have petted them, but you are not allowed. They walk along beside your van. Our tour guide, Karen, was great cause she has worked there since Day 1 and knows the animals by name and will tell you the funny habits of each one. Mary the ostrich is trip! She runs after the van and you have to stop and let her get out of the road.
After the tour you stop and have juice and snacks. The giraffes come watch and hang their long necks over the fence.
And then there is dinner at Jiko ... oh my! You have 4 different appitizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. I don't know if this would change if there were more or less in your party. We got to try many dishes we have seen on the Jiko menu and never ordered. The chef comes out with each course and tells you all about the dishes. Wine is served with each course, too. It is served family style. I wasn't sure about dining with strangers, but there was so much to talk about, they were soon like old friends.
Yes, it isn't cheap at $150 a person, but the dinner alone is worth alot. I would do it again in a minute.
