AKL concierge - 1 BR or Studio?

I'm confused. Are you talking about Concierge level at Kidani Village? I thought only Jambo House had Concierge rooms.

We were in the Jambo House for our stay and they did not have concierge level rooms. Jambo goes to floor five and club level is floor six. Floor six can only be accessed through the main portion of the Lodge at the present time. Rooms were all around the center, doors over looking the lobby.

My question was about the rooms at the new Kidani Village that will be completed next year.

Jambo House has five two bedroom lockoffs on the sixth floor that are Concierge (or Club) level. Three of those look out over the savanna. Two look out over the pool.

Currently the AKL Concierge (Club) level rooms are located on the fourth floor and their room key will access the lounge on the sixth floor. We were on the fifth floor Concierge rooms way back in 2003 before they were converted to DVC villas.

Kidani Village is not supposed to have any Concierge (Club) level villas that I am aware of. They are limited to Jambo House sixth floor.

Deb you are right concierge is only in Jambo House no plans for it to be at Kidani. Jambo House DVC concierge is on floor 6 and 60% of the rooms are Savanna view the other 40% are pool view aka standard view, these rooms have been open since early Dec.

I just want to let everyone know that I was able to book a 1bdrm concierge for the above dates at the 7 month window. I booked the 8/31 night on Friday and the 9/1 night yesterday.

I would have taken either a studio or 1bdrm. When I called MS on Friday (I called around 11:30am EST) and I asked if they had either and MS told me that they had the 1bdrm available. Before I booked I just confirmed that she had the 1 bdrm available for the night of 9/1 and they did. So, I booked the 8/31 and then called the next day at 9am and got the next night. I just realized that 8/31 is the night before Labor Day and 9/1 is Labor Day, so it's even a holiday weekend (so to say!)

Just thought that I'd share with everyone to let them know that it is possible to get concierge at the 7 month window.

It's great that you were so lucky. Enjoy your stay.

I guess I was confused. Sorry.

There's one thing for certain. Once AKV is sold out, it will be extremely difficult to get those AKV concierge rooms at the 7 month window. Looks like I need to plan another trip sooner rather than later!

You guys are amazing.... So helpful. Now here is my NEW question.... how do they assign the views on the club level? First come reservation or arrival? Or request? Or what? Just wondering how they figure out who gets the pool or savanna view....

I guess the pool view would not be so bad.... Does it get loud at night or are the rooms so high up that noise from the pool is not a factor?

Since DVC is not a week by week timeshare, not everyone checks in on the same day for the same number of days. So you get whatever is available. And one of the two bedrooms is handicapped accessible. And they are all lockoffs.

Actually, as reported by a concierge employee on another thread, 2 of the Savannah view 1 bedrooms are HA and do not have tubs.

Also, 1 savannah view studio faces the building of the next wing and is in the corner. It is studio 6201 that connects to the HA 1 bed 6202. We stayed in 6202 in Dec.

You can see still see the savannah if you are out on your balcony and look right.

I do agree, that concierge is pretty much what they give you though. With only 10 possible units max, it will operate at 100% capacity and there is nowhere to move you if you are not happy with your room.

I say go with an open mind and enjoy the service and the safari's. I actually think the pool view is better, but dont be disappointed if you dont get what you requested.

DVC took the "beggars cant be choosers" approach to offering DVC members concierge.

We still enjoyed our stay, and have booked a concierge studio after our Repo cruise in Sept but now I know what to expect and we can relax a few nights before heading home.

Did he say both units didn't have tubs? I remember he posted that two were accessible but not that both were lacking the tub.:confused3 In general at WDW, there are accessible units with rollin showers as well as those with tubs.

I think he said the other HA 1BR is next door to the 1BR you had but I don't remember him mentioning whether or not it had a tub. If I remember correctly, the people staying there told you that it did have a tub.

We have only 2 HA concierge villas: 6202 & 6205. Both are savannah view one-bedrooms. Room 6208 is the only non-HA one-bedroom concierge villa with savannah view.
All of the rooms on the 62 side are savannah view, while the rooms on the 64 side are pool view.
There are 4 one-bedroom concierge villas (including the 2 HA) and 5 concierge studios.

Hope this helps!

This was posted by conciergesteve on another thread. He did agree that there are 5 1beds not 4.

Not sure what my neighbors room number was.

We stayed in 6202. HA Concierge 1 bedroom unit.

If I am in error, then I will edit my post, but from the floor plans I viewed, there were 2 1 beds that had the same floor plan as the one we were in. There are no separate tub and showers in Jambo 1 beds and Im not sure how you could have an HA unit with a tub with that layout. There is only room for 1 or the other.
No he did not say that either unit did not have a tub, but since I stayed in an HA unit, how could the other be any different given the layout of the units?
Im sure we will get more reports on the 1 beds that will help.

According to conciergesteve both 6202 (your room) and 6205 (the 1BR next door) are HA rooms. According to the floor plan for both of those 1BRs, the master bath has a different layout than most of the Jambo House master baths. It shows a combination tub/shower across from the toilet. There is a sliding door that closes off that part of the bathroom. Your room (6202) was not built according to the plan -- they put in a roll-in shower instead of the combination tub/shower. In your trip report I thought you reported that your neighbor did have a tub so if I'm remembering that correctly, then your neighbor's room (6205) was built according to the floor plan with a combo tub/shower.

I have read on other threads that not all HA rooms have roll-in showers so I'm guessing that 6205 is one of those types of HA rooms. ETA: Ah! I see BCV23 has stated this in post #32 above. I believe I learned this info from another of BCV23's posts. Thanks for that info!

Just reporting that I called this morning and booked a two-bedroom AKV concierge level for one night for Sept 6.

I wanted this for the club services on the day we get off the cruise and to do the sunrise safari the next morning and have club services for the afternoon before we catch our flight that night.

No one was more surprised than I that I was able to book this. I am so tickled.

Terrific!!!!:cool1:

also wondering where I can find those posts with conciergesteve. I would be interested in reading those posts.

Just to let everyone know... on Feb. 13th I will be canceling a 2 bedroom concierge villa from Sept. 9-13th. Please let me know if anyone is interested and I can give you the exact time I will be canceling.

Also... I will not be canceling if there is not a BWV or BCV 2 bedroom villa or a OKW GV available for those dates.

I booked two SV studios on January 18th for one night stay on July 3rd. I asked to be placed on the waiting list for concierge level studios, never thinking it would come through during the busy July 4th week. I was checking the website on Monday to find out that the waitlist came through on one of the studios. So it can happen. As a side note, I was excited at first until I realized only one room came through. I thought the waitlist applied for both rooms becoming available at the same time. I called member services and there were no studios available so I have the option waitlisting for SV studio or waitlisting for another concierge studio or flip a coin with DH to see if he gets the concierge room with the 2 -16 year old boys or if I get it with the 2 girls. We are still mulling it over but I think I am going to go back on the waitlist for a SV studio as I think that it has the best shot of coming through on the waitlist so both studios can at least be on the same floor. If DS were 18, DH and I would place the kids in the SV studio and we would keep the concierge try it out as I doubt we will get so lucky again, not being AKV owners.
