Can anyone give me insight into these 2. We are just back (2/03) from BCV and are already looking to go back and add something a little different. Thanks

We highly recommend the AKL Concierge! The selection of food and wine is just wonderful. The lounge is spacious and comfy (yet beautifully African themed) and overlooks the exquisite AKL lobby below.

Plus, by staying concierge, you have access to going on the Sunrise Safari. A definite "must do."

But most importantly, the espresso machine in the lounge. Oh baby, you are gonna want that!

I just got back from my second stay at the AKL concierge. Let me tell you, it was the most magical stay I've ever had at WDW!

The GF is a nice resort, but their concierge service downright stinks IMHO. But as nice as it is, it's nothing special that can't be found lots of other places. Well, unless you have a castle view, but that's not guaranteed.

But the AKL is the ONLY WDW resort that draws you in and wraps its;ef around you like a warm blanket on a cold night. It's truly a place Walt would have lved.

I was excited before I read this, now I really ecited. I'm doing AKL conciege in Nov .

Hi Anne (ducklite)

Welcome back... just wondering how you found the other concierge guests this time?

I know you had some bad luck with the last lot.

The GF is my husband's favorite resort. However, both his & my favorite concierge resort is the AKL (the AKL is my favorite resort period). And my favorite Disney CM is found at the AKL concierge -- Don. What a wonderful man, at a wonderful resort. Of course this is all my humble opinion, and others' opinions will vary, as it should be. Wherever you stay, I hope you have a wonderful vacation.

This was a MUCH nicer stay!!! No food hogging, unattended kids, etc. Mostly there were adults in the lounge when we were there. There were two younger kids (3ish) on the Sunrise Safari, both got antsy towards the end but they were in the back of the safari vehicle so it wasn't a problem to me. I purposely made sure that I wasn't directly in front or back of them :)

My only "complaint" is that they now have assigned seating during the breakfast, there was another party that we had been talking to and would have liked to sit with them, but they were put at another table.

Anne, I'm so glad you had a good trip. We are so looking forward to our stay at AKL Concierge. I loved your description. Made me feel warm and cozy.

I can't believe they do assigned seating for breakfast. I wonder why? It would have been nice to sit with someone you had been chatting with.

Hopefully we will sit with other families. Would hate to ruin someone's breakfast since my little guys will be in attendance. LOL.

Hi Anne... (ducklite)

What is up with the breakfast? How are they assigning tables... we usually sat on the couch/armchair for breakfast.

Thanx

That's only during the Sunrise Safari Breakfast, not in the concierge lounge. Sorry for teh confusion.

ducklite,
you were disappointed by the GF conceirge..........was it RPC or lodge conceirge? Were considering AKL conceirge 4 nts then GF conceirge 5nts. I started this thread because I've heard so many great things about AKL I'd hate to be disappointed at the GF.

It was lodge. It was a very bad experience, rude concierge staff, no pre-planning assitance, bad room, no bell services to help with luggage on arrival, lost luggage on departure, you name it, in 24 hours if it could have gone wrong it did--it was so bad that we left and moved to the BW. I don't think RPC would have been any better as far as the problems we encountered.

My family (hubby, two young daughters, and grandma) stayed at the GF Lodge Concierge at the end of January and had a wonderful experience. The mid-day and evening foods were not that exciting to our girls - but breakfast was perfect. The cast members were wonderful - especially Robert. Everyone worked hard to make our stay very special and it appeared they were doing the same for others. The room was clean and had a fun view of the marina and monorail, and they put us exactly where I requested. I hope you won't be dissapointed!

I have never been to the AKL concierge, but it sounds wonderful!

Hmm,

I wonder if that's the same Robert that's over at AKL Concierge. He is a doll.

in the morning there were all kinds of cereals - everything from granola to fruit loops, muffins (the apple ones were fabulous), bagels, bread for toast, fruit of all sorts, they also had hot items like bacon and one day they had something like bread pudding. We ate breakfast out most days (can't resist Character breakfasts), so I can't remember everything. But, it could have easily made a meal for my crowd.

around lunch time and dinner it was much more snacky, they had various dips and crackers, grilled veggies, more fruit, little fruit tarts, brownies, cookies, cheeses of all sorts, and they sometimes had little sandwiches, shrimp, and something else like that - I'm sorry i can't remeber. I should have written it all down! But one night, my husband and mom had enough for a meal. We bought something for the girls at the grill.

All day they had tea, cokes, coffee, juice, milk, etc.

It was great to come home from one of the parks around 3:00 and get a glass of tea and a cookie and relax for a minute in the lounge.

Hope that helps.

I had the pleasure of staying as an AKL concierge guest for a week last April and it was one of the most wonderful family vacations we had. The staff are WONDERFUL, the food is awesome, it is a very elegant atmosphere and the kids really learned a lot of culture and information from the staff at the hotel. The sunrise safari was a great experience too.

In December we stayed at the GF Royal Palm club concierge. Totally different, although very nice experience. The GF is very formal and reserved. The food was not as plentiful or generous in options and quantity. The staff were of the mind "come to us...we won't come to you" but were responsive when approached. The room was much more elegant and roomy than the AKL and the view of the castle was breathtaking. Being on the monorail was great too, and on the lake.

All in all I prefer the AKL. It is really, really special. You won't find it anywhere else and the ammenities are fantastic. The GF is a great hotel but a little to quiet for my family. I will save that for a romantic getaway with my husband and keep taking the kids to AKL whenever we can!

I have booked 5 nights at the AKL and then 5 nights at the RPC at the GF for early December, now I am wondering if I should do AKL and Poly instead, whoat would those of you who have been to these resorts choose?

I've stayed concierge at AKL, Poly, GF, BWI, and YC. AKL is my favorite, and the Poly is a close second. Next would be the BWI, YC falls behind that and GF finishes dead last. Hope taht answers your question ;)
