AKL bus service

How is the bus service from AKL to other parks?? Does it share with any other resorts? How are the wait times?

AKL does not share with any other resorts, and when I stayed there I never waited more than 5-10 mins for a bus. Since there is only one stop to pickup at AKL, the rides never seemed to last very long.......15 mins or so to MK.

We'll be at Disney April 5-10....since it is Easter, I know it will be very crowded! I was just a little worried that even though AKL has its own busses they might be few and far between. Right now we are booked at POFQ but were thinking of switching. Any thoughts?

POFQ shares with POR so those buses have a much greater chance of being crowded. AKL never shares with any other resorts. Also, Disney knows Easter week is busy so they'll have plenty of buses running to and from the parks, I wouldn't worry about that.

Now, comparing POFQ to AKL I would definitely choose AKL. It's a beautiful resort!

my brother in law stayed at the fq and liked the resort and his room but hated the buses. it said it took FOREVER to go anywhere because you have to stop at por as well. i visited the akl this past jan and it is beautiful! we took the bus from there to dtd, it was a bit of a wait like 15 minutes or so, but then the dtd bus is always the longest wait it seems at every resort. whatever you chose have a good time!

Great bus service to and from AKL! Much better than the other more expensive deluxe resorts.

Some of which are more expensive at least, in part, because you can actually get to and from some of the parks without having to wait for a bus at all. The bus service at AKL is fine (and I generally love the resort), but give me YC any day, where I can walk to two parks instead of always having to get on a bus to go everywhere.

We thought that the AKL buses were the BEST we have had at any of the resorts we have stayed in so far. We never had to wait longer then 5 minutes (if that) and no they do not share with anyone else.

AKL: Lovely resort and terrific dedicated bus service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort. It has a powerful theme, animals, unique pool.

I'm so glad I came across this post. We are staying at AKL in Nov. for the first time. My family's favorite deluxe is the CR followed by WL. I really wanted to try someplace new, but was worried about the buses - hubbie is not a big bus fan. I feel much better now.

Now, just to decide if I want to stay with my pool view (and hopefully be close to the lobby) or switch to a savannah view (and be way out on the end)....arg!!

Our Savannah view was not too far from the lobby (on the third floor so no elevator trip up or down)... I don't remember exactly where it was but it definitely was the best of both worlds.

Personally I would rather walk another 30 steps at the end of the day and wake up looking at a giraffe, but that's a personal choice

Our decision for our next trip is WL or POFQ

Thanks Forevryoung, I'm thinking that since we were lucky enough to get the pincode the savannah view is the way to go. Where else can you wake up to a giraffe?!
Both POFQ and WL are beautiful - POFQ is very spread out where the WL is all contained in one hotel (which I personally prefer). Based on that and the transportation options - I like think I would pick the WL if I could swing the extra $$.

Thanks for all the replies! I am currently trying to switch from POFQ to AKL. Unfortunately I just called again and they don't have availability for the first night of our stay (April 5th.) Guess I'll keep trying. I'm so glad I haven't heard negatives about the busses since that was my main concern.

Well, I called this afternoon and managed to book AKL for all 5 nights of our Easter trip! We will have a car also....anybody have any idea how long it takes to get to each of the parks when driving in case we decided to do that?
