AKL - Balcony and children

hello

I was wondering if my 2.9yr old will be able to see the animals when on the balcony- is the barrier for the balcony one solid piece or rails so that children can see through?

greatest nightmare is of him climbing into chair on balcony to "see" the animals- i think for my piece of mind balcony chairs will have to remain indoors if DH or myself aren't out there!

Hi! The balcony has rails. When we were there my son was 18 months old, he could see them fine through the rails but always tried to climb on the little table anyway. lol

BTW we didn't let him climb on the table, we ended up taking it inside with us.

Please do not let the little ones climb on the little table. It only has three legs! While we were there last month we heard or saw five incidents of those tables toppling over and children crying!

I mentioned this to mousekeeping staff and I was told that if security sees anyone on those tables they will ask you to leave the resort! For those of you unaware - there are video cameras all over the place over looking the savannah. Signs in your room making you aware of the fact that you are being watched. It is my understanding that the cameras are there for the animals protection - also you cannot smoke on your balconies either!

It is best - IMHO - if you have a small child to bring that table inside so your toddler is not tempted to climb up on it. They will topple over - even with you standing right there! Saw it too many times!

There really isn't room for the balcony chairs inside. But the doors have 2 locks, so it should be easy to keep your little one in the room.

We held our 2 year old on our laps so he could get a better view sometimes.
