Ok so new to DVC and just booked our Dec trip for this year. It will be our first time going during the Christmas season and MVMCP is a MUST on our to do list! Anything else that is a MUST DO?

also since we just booked today we have a split stay. AKV-Jambo standard 1 bedroom villa for Dec 4&5; AKV-Jambo value 1 bedroom villa Dec 6&7. Wait listed for AKV-Jambo value 1 bedroom villa for Dec 3-8. We were just excited to get the 4 days at AKV:banana:!!! What are our chances of getting the waitlist?

Because there are only 10 1 bedroom value villas, I don't think your chances are that good, but here's some PDpixiedust:Because, we just don't know for sure! It's more points, but you would stand a better chance if you wait listed for a standard 1 bedroom, at Jambo & Kidani.

I would definitely take the time to visit the lobby of these resorts:
GF
WL
BW
BC
YC

GF,BC, & BW do amazing things with gingerbread. The Contemporary does also to a lesser degree IMO.

Love Christmas at Disney! We stayed at Kidani last year. Definatly check out the GF lobby. They build a life size ginerbread house. Also the Osborne Family lights at Hollywood Studios is spectacular. Our entire family enjoyed the Candel Light Processional at Epcot. I strongly reccomend booking a dinner package to guarentee seating. Otherwise you will wait in line for hours to hopefully get a seat! MVMCP was fun. More crowded than we expected. You will have a great time no matter whate you choose! Look at the website Dad's Gaide to Disney. He has a lot of info and pics for Christmas.

Yes Christmas at Disney was spectacular. :yay: We spent 12/22-12/29 at Kidani and Bay Lake. We went to all the hotels to view their decorations. Loved them all. The first two days we just stayed at Kidani and did shopping at DTD. Christmas was spent at MK and the day after we did the Candlelight Processional at Epcot with Blair Underwood as the speaker. Instead of park hopping we did a park a day with Animal Kingdom after Epcot and DHS our last day. The Osborne lights were so beautiful. Then we did the Dream cruise from 12/29 to 1/3. It was just my DS (12) and I. One of the best trips we ever done.

How is the weather the second week of Dec? Able to swim at the pools?

The PP is right that it is variable.

We were there in Dec '10, for the first two weeks. The first few days it was just chilly, and it got progressively colder, to the point of it being below freezing at times.

The day we left, as we went to Mara to get food to go for the drive to the airport, it was in the 70s, and we nearly cried, since we had turned ourselves blue trying to enjoy a swim in the AKL pool the day before.

We swam on that trip...it's just that it wasn't very enjoyable. :rotfl:

(and I believe it was that cold in '09, too...but I don't think it got that chilly last year!)

Osbourne Lights are a must. Possibly more so than MVMCP. Make sure you swing by Jambo to see the Christmas tree. We were staying there last year and one day we woke up to go out and about and there was a 4 story tree completely decorated in the lobby. Pretty impressive.
