Just wondering the mossies are more of a problem at AKL due to their being animals there and not being able to spray the area?

Our trip is last 10 days in Sept so I guess it can still be classed as Summer season?

Would love to hear your experiences with the mossies at AKL.

Thanks :D

 I was wondering the same thing! May be a British term? Could it be a mosquito?

Anywhere in WDW there can be bug problems. The worst mosquito problems actually seem to be around Fort Wilderness, and the boat dock at MGM.

We've stayed at the AKL twice and never had a bug problem. They do a lot of "natural" pest management, using other bugs (or birds) which are harmless to humans to eat the pesty bugs, that type of thing.

Of course anytime you'll be outside in the evening it's wise to use a bug spray.

A few days ago, we got a letter that was left in our room from the GF Guest Services about the State of Florida issuing a warning about mosquitos and illness. I know in Louisiana we currently have several new cases of West Nile Virus.

WE stayed at the AKL in May and yes there were a few mosquitos buzzing and biting. Not horrible but annoying enough to warrant repellant.

If you check out Arusha Rock after sunset, repellant is not a bad idea, especially if you use the night vision gear to check out the animals. Mara/Pool//Hottub/Arcadearea no problem.

We were there in May and I didn't notice any bugs...

It really depends if your "sweet " or not! We stayed at AKL (loved it!) in May & DH,DD,& DS were left alone, but "sweet" little me was eaten alive by the no-seeums. To the point where it looked like I had a severe case of chicken poks. It did not, however, slow me down any.

Have a wonderful stay at AKL, it is truly magical there.
