AKL and Birthday Question

Hi All-

We're headed to AKL for our DD's 3rd birthday in December. Am I allowed to decorate the room? I know we can't use balloons, but can I put up Happy Birthday signs on the wall and hang streamers? Has anyone done this? Also... the birthday cake... we're staying concierge... can they take care of the cake or is this something I shouldn't count on and just go ahead and get her a cake on my own?

I haven't stayed at AKL yet (let alone concierge) but I have stayed at many of the WDW resorts and we go every year for our birthdays so I thought I'd just give you a tip or 2

When you book your stay, let them know it will be your DD's b-day (and also remind them of this when you check in) they usually will send balloons to the room and an autographed card from her favorite character

Also, when you make PS arrangements for the day of her b-day, let them know when you call and when you check in at the podium of the occassion. They usually have a complimentary dessert sent to the table and depending on the type of meal -- such as a character dinner -- they'll have the characters come sing to her and sometimes balloons as well (they did this at Cape May Cafe' in the BC at the character breakfast).

And my last tip is, go to the MK city hall and they can give your DD a button that alerts everyone to her special day and she'll receive all kinds of special attention from those who notice her wearing it that day.

We stayed at AKL last Nov/Dec for my DD's 4th birthday. Her birthday was mentioned on our reservation and again when we checked in. I had heard some of the resorts may do something for birthdays, but we didnt see anything. (Dont get me wrong Im not complaining!) We are going back to AKL this Nov/Dec for her 5th birthday and I wanted to make sure something happens! I read a post where gifts of a lifetime will come decorate your room and leave a cake for a birthday while you are out at a park. This is what Im going to have done this year so when we get back to the room Tinkerbell (her favorite) will have paid her a birthday visit! I have no experince with Concierge, but I have heard they will work with you. You may want to call and ask what can be done when you make you reservation!

We stayed there last month for my birthday, and were concierge guests.

At about 3:00pm on my birthday there was a knock on the door, and it was a waiter with a birthday cake on a tray, covered with streamers and including plates and forks for six or so, plus a knife.

The cake was 8" I think and more than served five of us. (and it said "Happy Birthday" on it) There was also a card that said happybirthday from the concierge staff.

We stayed at AKL last Dec for DW Birthday. I called AKL ahead of time and ordered a birthday cake to be delivered on a specific day to our room. If I remember right I could have ordered balloons to come with the cake. Dont quote me on the balloons. The cake was awesome.
DW still talks about that cake.
