Hi. Just wondering if AKL has those "motion" air conditioning controls like I hear the Poly has. If yes, could someone fill me in on how to overide it. This has probably been answered a million times and I apologize. I saw a thread a while back on how to disable them but I can't find it again. Sept. 4th here I come! Ressies made, plane tickets paid for, PS all set up (I'm going to eat my way around epcot!) Just wish they would post the park hours for September. Getting very excited!!!!!!! Thanks

I saved this info from another post I read!

Just wanted to pass on the good info, I have not ever tried it myself.

Maybe if after you go you could let us know if it works!!

"On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there willbe the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was not a problem doing this as they do it for pople all the time. Guess they get a lot of complaints."

Good luck --- Enjoy !! :wizard:

That's the exact thread I was looking for! I'm going to print it out this time. Thanks!!!!!

I was just there and I couldn't find the power button :(
it always seemed cold in the room for us though.

I also heard that tying a balloon in the room would work, especially if it was near the vent. I read that the vent blowing the balloon would simulate motion in the room, therefore bypassing the feature that shuts down the ac when it perceives the room to be empty. Has anyone tried this?

So thats why my room always felt so hot in the middle of the night. Boy, you learn something new everyday.

You cannot have balloons at AKL, but everywhere else you can.

Also, someone said you could have them override this function at AKL if you call the front desk. I think it's not as noticable at AKL because the corridors are inside and there is air in the hallway if that makes sense.

I was worried about this and we found our room to be very cold.

There isn't a power button on the device at AKL, I tried to over ride it a couple weeks ago when we were there. They do have ceiling fans so we stayed pretty cool at night. You could rig up something that would flap around, a plastic bag maybe, if you wanted to, but it wasn't bad at night there.

Our A/C stayed on all the time at AKL. Maybe it was because of the ceiling fans? It didn't even shut off at night. And we were able to adjust the temperature nicely. When we'd get back from the parks in the middle of the day, we'd set it at 65 and then back up to 70 once we got cooled off enough. Our room was always just right.

I wonder if the "motion" of keeping the ceiling fan going all the time is the answer. I'll let everyone know when I get back. Thanks.
