I just called Disney to try and upgrade my stay at AKL to concierge. I was told that they can't guarantee a savannah view, that I could be given a pool view. Now I don't know what to do. I kept my deluxe savannah view for now but I had my heart set on the sunrise safari. What do you think my chances of asking for (and paying for) an upgrade at check-in will be???

This question comes up time and time again. While it's true that you might not be able to get a regular concierge room with a savannah view, I understand that the staff will do every thing they can to accomadate your request, even transferring you to another room onsite that isn't normally "concierge" but has the view you want. I originally booked a split stay because of this issue, but when my TA talked with the concierge staff, she calmed my fears.

I think in another thread people mentioned the only concierge pool views are smoking rooms...so request non-smoking concierge and it SHOULD be savannah view from what I understand. I've always thought that lack of a distinction was odd!

And I'm sure you want to see the animals, but know that a pool view is quite stunning. Very exotic! So if the Sunrise Safari is what you want (it is outstanding!), reserve concierge, then stress at check-in that you want the savannah view!

If a savannah view is a must you can always stay in a savannah view room that isn't a deluxe but still be considered concierge. They go out of their way to get you what you want. Granted, in doing this the room will be a bit smaller ... so if you get there and it isn't a savannah view then ask to be placed in a regular savannah view room. Or you can make that known to the concierge staff. I'm sure they will do what they can to get you a savannah view room.
