AKL - $25 per person charge

The policy depends on the hotels also. Disney hotels make it impossible to have a family of five in a normal hotel room if some of them are over 18. We stayed at the Marriott in Savannah with 2 adults and 4 children. They were very happy to just give us a rollaway at no cost and no hassle with no extra charges. Most hotels are like this. There was plenty of room too. There is no reason to charge $15 or $25 for more than 2 adults in a room, but more hotels than just Disney do it. If it is because you require more bedding or towels that's ridiculous. My family is me and 2 daughters. Upon arrival we request 4-5 more pillows and extra towels every time. So that theory is blown. They should charge by the ROOM not the people. 4 people in 2 queen size beds is normal and just because it's 4 adult people is ludicrous. I am sure that many people book 1 room for 4 people, regardless of the ages. I am upset now because my daughters are 17 and turn 18 in November. So pretty soon I am going to have to pay $15 or $25 for one of them when they are getting the same amenities they have always had when they were 10. But, that is the rule and that is what I will abide by. The thought of someone finding out and confronting me about it would just about embarrass me to death.....besides if you can even afford to stay at a Deluxe or Mod to begin with, the extra charge is a moot point right? Oh well, just lucky I can afford to go at all.:)

oh boy! lots of mixed reactions on this one.

Myself.. I would just ignore the whole situation. Check in and don't say a word - I doubt they will even ask! If they do, say there are 2 adults. It isn't like you are trying to 'pass off' a 21yo for a 17yo.. not a big deal IMHO. They aren't going to 'find out' and stalk you down and make you pay them $25/day. Think nothing of it and I am sure that they won't either. She is just a kid after all.

enjoy your stay in the deluxe!

I don't know how long you plan on staying, but another option could be to split your stay between 2 hotels. Stay in a Moderate (or even a Value) resort for a few nights and then move to the AKL. That way you can make up the difference. Check our mousesavers frequently. Chances are that you can find a cheaper rate for the AKL.

The CM asked me the ages of those in my party...NOW, not in July when we will be going...NOW.

Let's use just a little drip of common sense here. When you call Disney to set up a vacation for next year, do you think their inquiries about the ages of the people in your party are just small talk? OR, might they want to know the ages of the people that will occupy the room that you are calling to reserve?

They will also tell you what the price of the room is NOW, but it won't be the same after they raise their rates once a year.

Just so you know, it's ok, ya'll can stop this. I wanted opinions and boy did I get them. This trip is my choice, and my decision. I need no further answers to this thread which I started.

This thread is now closed IMHO.
Thanks for all of your answers, whichever way they went.

I wish you all the best
~Tina
