Akhershus and FD ADRs

I'm planning a trip in December with my brother's family and we are hoping to take my niece to Akhershus for the princess character breakfast. I'm thinking we need to book this ASAP, but then again, it doesn't seem as popular or well known as other character breakfasts. I don't really see it come up much, which is a surprise considering the popularity of the princesses. So, does it fill up quickly? I know its a relatively small venue, so should we be scrambling to save our seats?

Also, our fingers are crossed for the extension of free dining. So if we make the reservation now, would we be able to apply free dining credits towards the meal later? Can you use free dining on reservations you made before obtaining free dining?

Your method of payment - OOP or DDP - is not connected in any way to your dining ressies. You tell them how you plan to pay when you arrive at your meal.

I would advise anyone that wants to dine at a specific restaurant during their stay to make a dining ressie as soon as they are able to. That way you are assured of that meal at a time acceptable to you. It also sounds as if you will have a larger party so I would especially recommend it, the larger your party gets the harder it seems to get ressies.

Yes you need to book the Princess breakfast asap as it does book up...there are just 2 places they can eat with the princesses and that is the Castle and in Norway

Character meals can be the most difficult to get into if you do not have a reservation

it obviously depends on the time of year for how quickly it fills up, but it will fill up.

We have done the Akhershus dinner in the past and it was packed


Also, if memory serves me, for this one they do require a credit card to hold the reservation but that will only get charged if you don't cancel 48 hours prior to your ADR and then don't show up .... so if Free dining opens up they you will be able to apply that instead of paying OOP when your eat

And even if you had ANY dining plan (free or not) you'd still have to put the CC down for the reservation.
