I had dinner today at Restaurant Akershus (which is now called Akershus Royal Banquet Hall). Effective today they have brought back the Kaltbord Buffet. The layout and the foods are the same as they had for lunch and dinner before the Princesses.

There is the buffet, they bring the hot foods to the table, and a family-style plate for dessert.

The only downsides are there are Princesses and the place is extremely crowded and noisy.

Would LOVE to hear details if you have them. I've NEVER eaten there and will be having dinner there with my nieces 3 weeks from tonight!

Cheers!

Thank you for the info Cheshire Figment. :flower:

Like maine_jennifer, we've never been there before either, and we'll be there two weeks from tonight.

Are the entrees & dessert the same as what was listed for the PSB dinner?

Thanks CF!

So...it is the cold buffet, and then your order hot items from the CM? You can only order one entree at a time, correct?

Thanks again for the update!

Well, I might actually eat there sometime afterall! When they changed the menu I marked it off my list. =)

Wonderful to hear that, thank you so much! Are the entrees the same as listed on Allears?

Great news! First Garden Grill and now Akershus.

I'll be back once they stop All Princess, All the Time (or when I take one of my little 4 year olds friends to Epcot again....)

Please WDW, consider just one meal non-character - we promise we'll become regulars again!

i would also like to hear more about this place..we have booked it for one of our meals while we are there..my daughter is 8 and loves the princesses of course...any info would be great...

Darn! Just missed it! This would have been first on my ADR list. Weird choice for the Princess thing anyway, imho. We just got back and I had to settle for the Norway bakery. One more reason to plan another trip! Save some mashed turnip for me!!!

Were the tables still crammed together? We were there in July of last year, pre-princess, and loved it. It was one of our favorite places to eat.
Fast forward to April 2005, absolutely hate it! Our table was crammed in so tight that the little girl behind me hit me every time she moved. Even the princesses were squished in with no traffic pattern for visiting tables.
We are going to try one more time for xmas but if it's still jam packed we will have to skip it. I wish they would at the very least have a non princess dinner like CRT.

Yay :cool1: Thats one step in the right direction, just need a couple more now such as the hot buffet coming back and NO Princesses :)
Claire ;)

When the princesses are given a poisoned apple each I will be back! :)

What was on the buffet? Is it the same way at lunch? I'm eating there on Oct 7th, and would love to hear a review.

OK, Ok. That's enough princess bashing for now! princess:
Princesses are people too!!!! :rotfl2:
Seriously, can someone give more detail of how the meal works.
I am thinking that sounds as if you serve yourself at a cold buffet and then you can order hot items from the waiter and then a family style dessert tray is brought to your table. Is this right? If you order something hot and then decide you want to try something different, is this allowed. Do they bring you small portions or large portions. I like to get small portions so that I can try different things and not feel guilty about wasting food. Also, can adults get items from the children's menu (of course they would have to pay adult price) if they want. My sister is a little picky and is willing to try something different as long as there are chicken strips available as a back-up!
One more questions- will the food choices be the same that were offered on the menu this summer?
Thanks-
Mel :earsgirl:

You pretty much figured it out right here. You serve yourself at the cold buffet, they take your order for small portions of the hot entrees. They're smaller than appetizer size, and hopefully they will still let you order more than one.

Not sure about ordering off the children's menu, we were never interested in it.

Wait a minute.... isn't this how it's been?

It was originally a hot and cold buffet... that's what I thought it was going to be returning to.

Last time I was there they had only the cold buffet and then a la carte entrees. Which is how it is now, right?

Did they ever actually take away the cold buffet?

I'm so confused. :confused3

I think this has been a very rude thread. Seriously, when "grown ups" have to resort to wishing harm to fictional Disney characters its gone too far. I never minded when it was just breakfast with the Princesses. That was fine with me. And then Disney decided to change it and that was fine with me too. I wouldn't eat the lunch and dinner food if you paid me. But I would never say I wish they would change all the food to hamburgers and hotdogs, because some people like the Norweign food. I try to think of everyones wants, needs, likes, etc. When I see the eyes of the children (and not just the ones with me - all of them) when they get to meet the Princesses I tear up. I can't believe some of the posters on this thread are mean enough to want to take this expirience away from them.
