Akershus Royal Banquet Hall- Breakfast or Dinner???

I have two reservations for Akershus- one for breakfast and one for dinner. I am thinking about cancelling one of them but not sure which one yet. I was looking for opinions about which one is better. The only thing that concerns me about breakfast is that it is an 8:10am reservation and I would be traveling from POP- early morning!

If it was me, I'd go for the breakfast. I say that only because most of the food at dinner does not appeal to me. My advice would be check out the dinner menu first and see if you even like some of the food. Plus, if you go for the early breakfast, you'll have loads of extra time at the park!

I had lunch at Akershus, so I can't speak for either, but I did enjoy the cold buffet a lot at Akershus. I know a lot of people are scared off by Akershus menu, but my family really enjoyed it. My meal was just alright, but it wasn't too unusual (I got the meatball meal). But even if you don't like your meal, the cold buffet was great. There were salads and cheeses and fruit, etc. Plus seafood. And the desserts were delicious. There was rice pudding, apple crisp type dessert & and a chocolate mousse.

So personally, I would not want to travel all the way there to make an 8:10 breakfast so I would do dinner.

I have done both and prefer the breakfast because the dinner menu is not exactly anything I would want to actually pay for. I cold bar is many different types of cheses, cold salmon, and some salads, also not worth the money in my opinion. Breakfast was a nice basic breakfast, good potatoes, breakfast meats and eggs. Check the menu before you decide, I would hate for you to be disappointed in the dinner menu as we were.

We only do Akershus for breakfast and we like to get there before park opens. The breakfast there is very good and the cold bar is awesome. They also have the best cheesy potatoes....YUM!!!! We have looked at the menu for dinner and nothing appealed to any of us, that is why we stick with breakfast only. I wouldn't worry about your 8:10am ressie because buses start running about an hour or so before park opening just for the character meals. In December we have a 8:05am ADR, but we are staying at BC so we can walk there from our resort. Just make sure you are at your busstop by 7:15 - 7:30am at the latest. Also another thing to think about is if the park is opened at 9am that day, you can get into the park and enjoy your breakfast and be out before rope drop and do not have to worry about the long line to get into the park. Have fun, you are really going to enjoy Akershus.

I'm in the minority here, I see. I would not spend the money or a DDP TS credit for a breakfast meal at Akershus. As I see it, eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes are not worth it at those prices.

I've done both lunch and dinner at Akershus and liked them both. I really liked the cold bar.

Definitely look at the dinner menu, but I can tell you that the mustard-glazed salmon was absolutely incredible, one of the best entrees we had, and we loves the dessert sampler. The appetizer bar was also great as people mentioned above, but the salmon was the standout. We would definitely go for dinner again, but I'm not sure we'd tie ourselves to a breakfast ADR again (except maybe Boma).

I think we may be leaning toward dinner since I tend to agree with The Tabasco Kid. My kids and I are not a huge fan of eggs for breakfast so dinner may make more sense for us (the kid menu looks like pretty normal food) and I think I can find something I like on there. We will probably do the normal park stuff during the day, go back for naps, and then make a big deal for my almost 3 year old about going to dinner with the princesses. I see that people liked the salmon there. Any other suggestions for dinner? What about the veggie pasta or the bacon wrapped cod???

We've had the Kjottkake, Braised Lamb, Lamb Stew and the Braised Pork. All were very nice entrees.

After reading it, I would pass. The pasta is stuffed with some kind of grilled veggie puree and I'm the kinda guy who like his veggies to have texture and a bit of firmness.

The entrees are not big ol' plates of Norway lovin' but reasonably sized with the expectation that you'll partake of the cold buffet, which is my Official Favorite EPCOT Thing.

looking at the same thing in 2011. breakfast, lunch or dinner? which do you prefer? we are not huge breakfast people so im leaning lunch so we can do garden grill for dinner. Too much food for one day?

I agree! I would try the dinner, you may be suprised. I am a super picky eater (I eat like a kid, cheese, pizza nuggets, plain cheeseburgers, no sauces, etc) and I enjoyed my meal there. I got some kind of beef tips that was in peas and corn. I just ate around the peas and it did not leave pea flavoring over the other food (I am sure you other picky eaters know what I'm talking about lol) I would try it, I am sure you could find something you will like.

We always go for diner. We will be doing lunch for the first time next month. The food is good and honestly is less and less traditional Norwegian

We've only done breakfast there twice as also for us the lunch or dinner did not appeal to us. We always do late breakfast adr's tho, that way we have time to ride either Soarin' or TT first & get a FP for the other before heading over to Norway.

Meant to add also that the cold bar at breakfast is really good also. Our kids love fruit & there is a certain little muffin there that along with the strawberry cream cheese stuff is just callin' my name right now...

I loved the mushroom pasta I had there last year.

I'd say go for dinner. To me, breakfast isn't worth the price. And if I'm getting to a park that early I'd want to take advantage of shorter lines for rides. And I really don't think the food is that weird.

I would highly recommend the bfast-its great!
