I might have missed this posted on here, but just in case, All Ears is reporting that they have increased prices yet again.

When you add on the holiday surcharge, it's downright ridiculous. I'm afraid people add in a value based on free photos, but the food and restaurant layout is horrible, IMHO.

We have eaten here lots of times, despite hating the food, as daughter loves Princesses, but it has now been removed from our list as these prices are crazy high!

Hope this info helps people in their planning, Tiger

It's been posted that people have noticed price increases at almost every Disney restaurant.

IMO, all the buffets/character meals at Disney are way overpriced. But as long as people are willing to pay (or use the DDP), I guess it's the way it is. Anywhere else, almost 30 bucks a person for bacon and eggs would be unheard of. But you're not dining with princesses anywhere else either, so Disney can get away with it. One more way to make the dining plan look appealing, I guess.

Okay, the food is expensive and horrible but the OP's daughter likes dining with Princesses, I get that.

But what has the price got to do with the restaurant layout? I'm NOT trying to argue - but would the price increase be more palatable if the restaurant was laid out better?

That's too bad. I loved Akershus when there were no princesses and was just a smorgasbord. The food was great, and it was a terrific value at lunchtime.

Yes, I don't really think anyone would argue that those prices are very high.

DD and I will are having breakfast here on 2/17 (w/o DH & DS!). My take on it is that I work hard all year to save for our Disney vacation. There are certain things that we really want to do and I'll pay for. We have never eaten here before and since she is getting a little older (10yo) I'm not sure this is something she will want to do again, so I'm going to take advantage of it now. (Actually, it was my idea to do the breakfast, she liked the idea because it's just going to be her and I)

for many people, dining out is more than just food, it is a "package". I can get a great steak at the local diner. Do I want to sit at the local diner on a special occasion? No. I want to sit in a bit more upscale setting. If I'm paying upscale prices, I don't want to be sitting in a diner atmosphere. The price increases eventually reach the point of diminishing returns. That's different for everyone, but for us, atmosphere is definitely a big factor when it comes to dining out.

I didn't see a kids menu for lunch--only dinner. does anybody know if they do have a kids menu at lunch???

Well I can honestly say I never got sticker shock in WDW when it came to restaurant and buffet prices. I live 20 minutes from Atlantic City and DH and I on our nights out with no kids will sometimes go there for diner. We went a few weeks ago spent $27 pp for a buffet and the food was inedible. It was the worst food I have ever eaten. Last time DH and I were there it was cheaper and the food was much better so its not just Disney its everywhere.

We did the breakfast last week and I have to tell you it was fantastic and totally worth the money. My nieces had a great time, the service was perfect, the character interaction was the best...the time the Princesses spent with my 6 year old niece was amazing. The food was awesome and plenty of it, we had 3 platters plus the buffet...great stuff to choose from.

I would go back in a heartbeat with the girls but for just DH and I we skip it.

I think $28.99 for breakfast per person is ridiculous. Thank goodness my girls are older and can do without the princesses! Since my girls are over 10, that breakfast would cost $115.96 (does that include tax?). Plus we are going during the "holiday" - you know, that holiday that extends all summer. So it would be even more.

We are doing no character meals and no buffets this trip. I might have done the Cape May Cafe one because we are staying at the Beach Club and we like the food there, but I refuse to go based on the holiday surcharge principle! (Although, this is easy for me to do since, as I said, my girls are older.)

As mentioned, if you go during a holiday season, the prices are downright ridiculous! Like I said, we've eaten here many times as DD loves princesess, but no more. These prices have pushed it off our list, and as I mentioned, when you add in the bad food, and the horrible layout (it's crowded and cramped - way too cramped in some spots!) and subpar service, it's no more for us.

We are slowly phasing out most buffets, which is sad, as we go for several weeks in summer, and have loved the buffets for the air conditioning and access to characters, but the prices just are not worth it anymore - we don't feel differently whether we are on the DP or not either. Bad food is bad food, whether it's OOP or on the DP.

As I posted a few weeks ago, Disney has better food than most theme/amusement parks, but as compared to off-site, not so much. We are DVC members who don't feel the need to spend hundreds of dollars for subpar food and service just to see characters. We swore by it at one point, but not anymore.

Happy eating to all, Tiger

Wow, I was feeling guilty that we made no ADRs for princess breakfasts for our trip in April. I was going to cancel Boma and go to PSB instead. Never mind. For that price we'll just go to Toontown for the girls to see the princesses.

That is way to high. I made an ADR for there. Guess I will be making a call to cancel cause it can't be worth that much.

That's why I think we are going to love the DDP.

I refuse to wait in line to see characters. Especially hour long lines! :scared: So for me paying for the meals is okay.

Those are prices have been that way for a while. They didn't just go up. It changed when they added in the photo package. For some reason allearsnet never updated.

No, I believe those prices are new. We ate here in May, right after the photo package, and prices were not this high, especially when adding in the holiday surcharge. I will go and double check my receipts, as maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure not as I would not have eaten here had the prices been this high. Hmmm...

Old vs. new prices:

Adult dinner $28.99 vs. $35.99
Child dinner $13.99 vs. $19.99

We will probably still go, but man...what a bummer! Once you add in tax & 20% tip, that is an increase of $32.89 for a family of 4. Oh well - priceless, right?!?!

Like someone said before, this is a pretty good example of the value of the dining plan. Definitely making me rethink our choice to not do the dining plan.
