Can you guys tell me what to expect at Akershaus for lunch/dinner?

After looking at a potential schedule for next fall, I'm looking at 2 TS meals in one day at EP. The first will either be Le Cellier or Coral Reef (both already decided).

I'm looking for a character meal, and I'd hate to go to Garden Grill as we're already going to Chef Mickey's. The kids are DS(4) and DD(2).

Lunch and dinner both consist of: (1) an appetizer buffet with salad, cheese, lunch meats, rolls, and some traditional Norwegian cold things like smoked salmon and pickled herring and beet salad; (2) an entree that you order off a menu of various Norwegian-inspired dishes (or the standard kid fare); (3) a tray of desserts served family-style.

Love it though many don't.

Did dinner again this trip (second dinner also done breakfast there once.)

starter as described is a serve yourself buffet, various breads, cooked meats, salami, ham etc. Cheese, cream cheese, beet salad, standard salad, smoked salmon, peel shrimp, herrings, asparagus, fruit from memory.

Main courses we have tried are the fish (9/10) the pasta (fine 7/10) the traditional meatballs (yuk - think Ikea 2/10).

DD still eats off the kid's menu and loves their plain grilled chicken with veg and mash.

Dessert is served family style - rice cream (much better than UK rice pud) a fruity dessert (not interested personally but DH said it was good) and a chocolate mousse cake (now we're talking yum)

Great atmosphere, the best princess character interaction plus we actually got to meet Ariel in her ballgown this year!

will most likely be back next October.

Do they do anything special with the desserts for birthdays? I know some restaurants will do something little. This meal will most likely be DD's special birthday dinner.
