AK vs. BLT: Split honeymoon between two resorts?

Hey gang,

We rented DVC points for our honeymoon stay, and originally picked AKL. We're staying for 9 days, and I'm considering changing to stay there for the first half and then BLT for the second so we get to have a "monorail resort."

The person I'm renting points from said they do have Lake view available and to let them know what dates and they'll get me a quote of what the price difference would be.

I'm curious for opinions from folks that have stayed at both. I liked the idea of the kind of removed and calmer feeling for AK during the first few days of the honeymoon while we recuperate, but then moving closer to the Kingdom for the second half. Is it worth it? Has anyone stayed in both areas (resort or DVC part) and can you give some insight on the "feel" of both?

TIA!!!:hippie:

Yes! We stayed at AKV (but Jambo house) on our honeymoon as part of a 4-resort hop, and at BLT on a different trip. I loved switching resorts during our honeymoon because each time it felt like we were starting a whole new trip. Some people (my husband) don't like all the packing and unpacking, though, so that's something to consider.

I think you have the right idea with relaxing at AKV for the first part of the honeymoon and touring from BLT for the second. AKV is definitely very dark, cozy and exotic-feeling, while BLT feels very airy, streamlined and modern. But relaxation is possible in both, and I highly recommend the water slide at BLT!

As usual, you come to the rescue, Carrie! Thanks for the advice, I was thinking the same thing too....it would be nice to switch resorts to make it feel like a new vaca.

DF will grumble about re-packing....but I saw the longing for the monorail ride in September after a really long day at Magic Kingdom. :rotfl2:

Is there a service that will transport our stuff?

Yes! Disney will transfer your bags between hotels for free (it's nice to tip the person who picks them up and the one who delivers them, though). You just have to be prepared to go without them for at least 4 hours. :thumbsup2

This is amazing news! We are staying in 3 hotels on our wedding trip.
