Is there a great deal of difference in the 2 rooms? Just curious, considerable difference in price. Are you stuck looking at a wall from the porch? :confused3

I believe the value rooms are smaller than the standard rooms. They do not have value rooms at Kadani, so you would be a Jambo House.

We are staying in a 1-BR value this spring, so I'll let you know! :rotfl:

Here is my understanding:
* Value rooms can have a standard view, a pool view or a savannah view. Standard rooms are bigger, but you will not get a pool or savannah view.
* The rooms are smaller, because they are converted hotel rooms. I read somewhere that you lose about 3' in the master bedroom, and the living space.
* You do not get a sleeper chair in the 1 & 2-BR values, so they strictly limit occupancy to 4 or 8.
* Most who have posted claim that there's a noticable difference in space. According to Disney, here are the square footages of the rooms:
Studios = 366 square feet (Value = 316 square feet)
One-Bedrooms = 710-807 square feet (Value = 629 square feet)
Two-Bedrooms = 1,075-1,173 square feet (Value = 945 square feet)

We're going to give it a try! I was a little worried, but my husband said, "Let's try it! Worst that can happen is we decide to never stay in them again." So, I went ahead and booked it, since it is a significant savings when we're going (spring break).

I had a 1 bedroom value in June. It was fine for us 3 adults...and even when we had "guests" 2 other adults, we were not cramped for space, they didn't stay long, just by for a cup of coffee. We had a pool/roof view..not bad at all. For a weekend stay, the value 1 bedroom was definitely worth it for me.

The floor plans below are from Jambo House and show you the size difference between each "bay" of the 2BR lockoffs. The main difference is that the Value is about 2-1/2 to 3 feet shorter, at least when compared to a non-Value villa in Jambo House (the Kidani villas are laid out differently due to the extra bathroom behind the kitchen in the 1BR/2BR villas).

In the studio portion, the difference is in the living/sleeping area, the bathroom/kitchenette areas are identical. The storage bench found in the larger studios doesn't fit in the Value studio so you have less storage space.

In the 1BR portion, again the length difference is in the living area and the master bedroom. The kitchen and master bath areas are identical between the two booking categories. You don't get a sleeper chair in the living area of the Value 1BR/2BR because it wouldn't be possible to have both the sleeper chair and the sleeper sofa open at the same time. Therefore the occupancy is lower for the Value villa (4/4/8 for a studio/1BR/2BR vs 4/5/9 for the non-Value villas at AKV). People have reported that the master bedroom is so tight with all of it's large furniture that it's difficult to close the bedroom door because it hits the bed.

The Kidani Standard View 1BR/2BR will be larger than a Jambo Standard View 1BR/2BR and will have an additional bathroom. So there is an even greater size difference if you compare a Value 1BR/2BR to a Kidani 1BR/2BR.

There is also a potential difference in the view. A Standard View at Jambo House has a pool view, a Value could face the pool, the Sunset Savanna or the parking lot. The Standard View at Kidani will have a view of the pool, garden area or parking lot.

How is the availability of the value rooms? Has any one had a problem booking 6 to 7 months out?

By the way, 629 sq feet is about 50 sq feet larger than the apartment I lived in my junior year of college. I think it would suit a couple or a small family very well (for vacation, anyway). Hopefully we'll find out for sure next year.

I tried to book a value studio at 7 months for last October, but none were available. I've stayed in both standard and value studios in one stay, and I preferred the value studio, partially because I liked the view better in the value studio. There was one possible disadvantage-in my studio, at least, the bed is right next to the sliding door, with the sofa on the other side. If you're a very light sleeper, the noise from the pool below could be aproblem.

The value rooms are hard to get due to the lower point costs. I had one this past September and thought it was plenty spacious for two people. I will be trying a standard room studio next month ( only thing available last minute) but would much preferred to have found availability in another room type at AKLV's.---Kathy

Thanks to all, despite my "concern" DW booked us in a AK/Value -- Sig Photo is few years old -- only hope the beds are full length - DS is over 6' now and shows no sign of stopping. Will bring extra blankets for his feet just in case.
