Thinking of going to Boma after a day at AK. Can you walk to the AK lodge from AK park, or do you have to take a bus?

Also, I'm still unsure about the food here. I here mostly good reviews, but some not so good. If I don't like jerk chicken, will I not like Boma? Does the food have similar spices to jerk chicken (I know jerk chicken is Carribean, but I wonder if the flavors are similar to Boma???)

There's no walkway from AK to AKL, so you have to either drive or take a bus. It's a short trip either way.

DW and I are not what one would consider very adventerous eaters, but we love Boma. I don't think you'll be dissappointed!

Boma is a must! DH is a very picky eater and he LOVES Boma. There are so many choices and nothing is really spicey or seasoned, it is just a taste. And if you really don't like the special foods, there is always the kids area where there is Pasta, chicken, mac & cheese etc. The deserts are amazing too! First time we were there, they had Coconut Tiramusu!! It was awesome!!

My DH and I didn't like Boma, we went for dinner. Next time we will try breakfast. I did like the deserts.

Boma is my fave restaurant on property. The "spice" is really just seasonings. There is no heat to anything there. The carving station has prime rib and ham, identical to what you get at Chef Mickey's. Except you can spoon some Boma mustard on it!

Durban spiced chicken is just flavorful, not "spicy." The soups are outstanding, the linked menu shows two but I swear they had 3 or 4 last time. I avoid the pap, which looks and tastes like Play-Doh. Also bobotie, which has raisins. The potatoes with Afritude are good, though.

I'm not going to say you cannot walk from the Animal Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge because we saw some people doing this a few months ago. What I will say is that you better have your life insurance policy paid up and your will prepared.

It looks so, so close on the map but it's not. And there is no sidewalk. And there are the buses. And no one driving is expecting to see any pedestrians where they shouldn't be.

In other words, yes, it is physically possible to do this. In reality, this would be a VERY bad idea. You very well could be the Orlando Sentinel's next headline about a Disney World guest getting hauled to the hospital.

About the Boma food. I do not like anything spicy at all. Mild chicken wings are too hot. I love the chicken at Boma.

Now, you will hear "bad" reviews of every single restaurant at Disney World. You will hear "fantastic" reviews of every single restaurant at Disney World. You'll hear the same about McDonald's (mother-in-law wont step foot in there), Applebee's (brother-in-law won't step foot in there), Macaroni Grill (my father LOVES it) and many others.

The only person's review you should listen to is yours.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not concerned about spicy food because I love spicy food. I more concerned about the type of spices they use. I always thought I would love jerk chicken, but I hated it - didn't like the spices used. If someone could tell me what type of spices they use besides cinnimmon, that would be helpful. Thanks.

There's enough variety that even if it's not your favorite restaurant, you'll find plenty you like. DW wasn't really into it, but didn't starve either. Personally, I thought it was the best buffet on property I've ever been to.
