We have never been to AK, and we LOVE love animals and zoos, etc so I KNOW this will be one of our most favorite parts of our trip and actually what my husband is most excited about. Anyway - I am trying to figure out a good plan. I have planned all along to head to the safari FIRST with the kids at rope drop as this is definitely the most important attraction to us. I was feeling pretty happy that it may not be as crowded because of Everest, etc. However, my husband wants to ride that ride (not me, unless we do a child swap thing?). So, my question is how do we manage to go first to the safari and still get a Fastpass for Everest that isn't too late? I don't have a great understanding of the timing, so can anyone help? Thanks!

Carrie =)

I would grab a fastpass to EE on my way to Safari. One of my friends just returned and said they got a fastpass early in the morning and it was for 4pm. She said the fastpasses went fast and their are a limited number per day.

I like the above option. Another that has worked for us is to watch Mickeys Jammin Jungle Parade near the entrance to KSafaris and jump on the Safari just after the parade before the line rebuilds. If you really want to see animals, then I'd suggest you do the Trek in Asia and Trail in Africa early before they are crowded with everyone who saved it for later. We're not bird fans, but really enjoyed Flights of Wonder too.
My personal favorite in all of WDW is Festival of the Lion King, so I try to catch the first show. Prioritize and enjoy - we love AK and AKL.

I haven't been to EE yet, but I think it has a single rider line. If it does and your husband is the only one going on the ride that would be a good option even if you don't get there early enough to get a FP. TO go get a FP for EE and then go to the safari seems a lot of backtracking to me.

We went at Park opening (9AM) straight to the Safari and did not have to wait just walked through the long line with no stopping. The safari might have been less crowded as EE was opened but we had no interest. After a fruit/coffee stop, we went to Camp Minnie & Mickey to see charcters(10AM - NO LINES!) before the Pochantas(10:15am) Show and then immediately to the Lion King(10:35AM) Show. Next we headed to Dinoland USA and rode Dinosaur and Spin Ride. We left the park at 1:00PM (due to ADR in MK) but could have easily spend a whole day at this park..it was beautiful and we really enjoyed the things we did/saw but wish we would have had more time to do everything else.

depending on how much you want to ride ee ( priority for me)i'd get the ee fp first then go to safari, we have been afternoon and morning and morning definitely was better for animal activity( mid afternoon, right before the parade found almost everyone sleeping and we didn't even see some.that was in winter and it wasn't even hot) we did go to emh so after safari did ttbab then headed to dinoland area. we saved the trails for later afternoon and most were pretty active. from what i recall, the trails are pretty shady

it was our first time going to AK and i have to say it seemed a little confusing to me...it really took me a day to get my bearings as it seems to have so many side paths .that was the day of the marathon though (& with emh and the runners hitting AK at the same time, it was chaotic to put it mildly) so some major paths were roped off in the am. i'd get and look over the map before getting there if this is your first time,

this is my fav. park. hope you enjoy it! if you've seen any of the expedition Everest TV specials you'll see the detail that has gone into it which imo is phenomenal and makes the park so great....try to take time to notice it if you can
