AK Picnic in the park

Just going over some ideas for lunch during our upcoming vacation and totally forgotten about this option till I read someones review from awhile ago. Thought I remembered that they had come up with an option for a 2-person lunch, but can seem to find any info now.

Has anyone done this lately? for 2 people? enjoyed it? can be used as a dining plan counter service option?

any thoughts or information would be great. thanks!

This sounds like so much fun AK doesn't have the greatest food options. Has anyone tries this? If so how was the food? Thanks

We did it in June and loved it. We got the Tier 2 ham with mac and cheese (for DDs) and tomato cucumber salad. Hot and fresh and waiting to be picked up at designated time. You are given a map when you place the order that shows all the picnic spots throughout the park so we already knew which one we were heading to when we picked up our food. Cant wait to do it on our next trip!

We'll be at AK our last day, before heading to the airport. It occured to me this might be a good meal to take with us for dinner on the flight home. Is is packaged appropriately? I know we can't take the water thru security...

Depending on the side dishes you get, you may not be able to take those through security either. And you will not be able to keep it either warm or refrigerated, so don't pick items that won't keep. Having had the chicken picnic, there's no way I would want to keep it around that long before eating it. But you could probably take this all the way to the airport.

In response to your comments about the chicken, you can use one of those hot/cold bags that you purchase at the grocery store. I use my all the time for picnics and travel. They pack flat and do not take up any more room in luggage. Just transfer meal into that & should be good to go.
