With all of the animals that are outside, do any unpleasant smells reach the guest rooms?

No, Disney cleans up after them. They also add extra food in areas that you can see them, so you can get a good look at them.

We have stayed at the AKL eight times over the years and the only type of animal smell we have ever noticed has been by the flamingo pool.

Our pool view room smelled horrible - very strong chlorine smell when we opened the slider to the balcony! Our savannah view room was wonderful, no animal smell at all.

Nope when we stayed there last June we had no unpleasant smells at all

Funny, yet so true. The smell of nutmeg & cardiman and other spices give the lodge a unique smell; it's very intoxicating. Subtle yet it attracts us back every year. We've never smelled the animals and i don't believe that would ever happen as Disney keeps tabs on everything and anything that may interfere with a guest having anything less than a pleasant experience.
