Why isn't Disney changing the hours for AK in July and August. All of June has an 11pm closing but July/August still says 5pm. They know they are going to be extended. What are they waiting for? What could possibly change?

They don't want to have to "back-pedal" if they make an error.

I know it makes planning difficult. That is what the Park hopper is for, alternatives.

The whole month of June is open til 11pm. Why keep that month open so late?

Because it's coming up sooner than July and August. Fully expect AK hours to be extended year round. I wouldn't say 11pm every night, but it won't be closing at 5pm. Rumor is it might mimic HS hours

ROL may not be open but AK is opening their other nightime events and actitives for the summer including the Jungle Book show in lieu of ROL.

Disney does what it wants regarding switching opening/closing times and doesn't concern itself with guests needs

Is there a possibility ROL might not be open by July/Aug? Wow, I thought it was supposed to open in April.

There for a long weekend in July and very interested in a nocturnal AK. Had a great night at a special event there in 2014.

They encountered (at least) one major unexpected setback in the show's tech.

Unfortunately, ROL has been postponed due to tech problems as noted above. It was to open on April 22nd Disney has given no set date or time frame for when ROL will begin although rumors are swirling that it will be end of summer or fall. Disney Blog notes update about start of ROL will be on Disney Blog mid-late May.

However, evening events will begin in AK memorial day weekend but the Disney Blog has given no actual date.

So those AK times for summer should change soon since evening events will begin end of May.

We are at the parks the last week of July - they must have calendar changes in the works because we have a 6:30 Yak & Yeti reservation on the 31st (currently showing 5pm close.)

Since TH is still only taking ADRs until 5, I was wondering whether they might still be considering ROL packages at TH for July and August.

I was looking at May 30 FP+ for Everest and there aren't any after 7:30, although I can get one for all other rides in the park as late as 10:30.

Has there been a notice that Expedition Everest will be closed during the Jungle Book show to accommodate for 5,000 people waiting for the Night Time show?

Also, it looks like the Kilimanjaro Safaris are going to book up pretty early (30 day mark) for the evening rides. Those are going fast.

While we still have not been told a opening date for the Rivers of Light yet. Disney's Animal Kingdom will start staying open later Memorial weekend. From that weekend on Disney's Animal Kingdom will stay open late, all the attractions will remain open, however like today Rafiki's Planet Watch, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek, will continue to close at sunset. Please check out the Disney Parks Blog for all the updated information on all the new nighttime experiences that will start Memorial weekend. Please keep checking the park hours for fall as the website has not been updated that far out at this time.
