I will start by saying my family are not rope drop people. Or at least I am the only one able to wake and function early in the morning. So Disney planning always includes 10am or later start.

We are heading there in August and I have planned my AK day around the slow moving family and new hours. We have a 2pm Tusker house lunch with the first showing Jungle book package. So out until at least 9:30 when the show ends.

I am travelling with a 13, 7, and 5 year old. Night prior is planned as an earlier evening, but its our first day there so we can't really predict.

Anyhow my thoughts are to head to AK around noon. Enough time to have small a ride or two before lunch. Our FPs open at 2:40, 4:50 and 6:15.

I know it will be dead heat and animals may not be out. I am wondering though will we have time? I personally love AK (because I am not a ride person) and really want to see the drum show, get the kids to the affection section (we missed it last trip) and just SEE the park. AK has always been our 1/2 day park because of the package we purchased we would split it with Disney Springs and rush to a TS over there. This year I specifically added another day so we'd have more time there. Having the lunch on site will also help.

So can we manage exploring all with the times or should I stick with a 10ish arrival and hope the kids are awake enough for the Jungle Book show when it starts?

TIA

Your plan sounds doable to me. The only thing that is unknown is how the heat will affect all of you. It is a HOT park and there's not many places you can go to escape the heat. Your 2:00 ADR will help tremendously.

Take your time, walk slow, DRINK, DRINK, DRINK lots of water, perhaps invest in some cooling towels or mister fans.

Personally, I think I'd try to be at the bus stop (if you're onsite) around 10:00 a.m. You have a possible early night the night before, and 9:30 isn't all that late for this night. What are your plans for the next day?

Thanks, if we can be out early than that will be the plan...but as you mentioned I think the heat will be the deciding factor whether they last past 8pm let alone long enough for the show. The next day is and Epcot plan with a 7pm supper booked at our resort, so if we decide to stay out after dinner it would be a park hop for Wishes.
