FP day is coming up and I'm having trouble deciding what FP to get in AK. (Family of 5, been before but not every year or anything, kids 7, 9, 11)

FOP of course.

I have 1 child who has done EE before and will want to do it again, and 1 who says he might want to try it. 1 adult that will do it. Single rider not a good idea on this IMO due to young child riding for the first time.

Of course we all can and will ride Safari.

So initially these were my thoughts for the FP. BUT we go in hot August, everyone will ride Kali, and that que is terrible and I know the line can get insane for it. So now I'm wondering if i should do a FP for that?

No one really like Dinosaur so that isnt necessary.

Thoughts? We've never been in the summer so i didnt know which would be harder to pick up has a 4th FP during a hot, busy time.

I would book FOP, the safari, and Kali, and try to get EE as a 4th.

My reasoning is that you would only need 2 or 3 for that one, and it would be easier to get last minute for a smaller group. (Plus, you've also still got the single rider option if the younger child sees the ride and decides against it anyway.)

Honestly, if you're not interested in Dinosaur, then I don't think it matters a ton. Outside of FOP none of the others are hard to get as extra FP+. If it were me, I'd probably initially do FOP, Safari and EE as they tend to have the longest lines.

Will you be in the park a good part of the day? The line for Kali has a very steep curve in wait time...it's low first thing in the morning, then will quickly spike to very high late morning and early afternoon. It then drops very quickly and by 3 or 4pm you can basically walk right on it. Safari follows a similar pattern, though in our experience it takes a little longer for it to drop back down, maybe 6pm.

What about PW? Will anyone in your family ride that? That line will get 20-40 minutes and stay there for a good while, so maybe FP+ that?

I'd go with this plan. FOP needs to be your priority. The other ones you can then stack depending on what order you want to do them. All 3 of them can often be found for a 4th FP+ throughout the day, but you should secure the safari and either Kali and EE to make sure.

I think PollyannaMom has a good plan. You can also head to EE as soon after rope drop as possible (depending on FoP FP or not) and probably have little to no wait for whoever wants to ride.
I agree, we went straight to EE last Summer and we rode it 3 times in a row....each time we simply walked around and right thru the que and got back on. This year we aren't using a fastpass on it and expecting the same thing to happen.

I assume you are rope dropping navi?

If so, I would get a fp for Everest and ride safari after navi. It's a shorter walk, and safari will be more comfortable in the summer morning than afternoon.

After safari, you could make the 10am Lion king show (possibly )

I would grab passes for Flight of Passage, the Safari, and Kali. Everest is of course very fun, but wait times drop dramatically in the evenings once night-time activities like Rivers of Light, etc., begin. I know personally that I've ridden Everest a few times in a row without much of a wait once the sun begins to set ;)

I would RD Everest. The line is usually short and you can ride several times. So, the one child who isn't sure if they want to ride can even sit out once and watch and then ride if they wish.
I would get FPs for FoP, Safari and Kali.

I would do what PollyannaMom suggested except I would head to EE at RD. You can get a few rides on that especially if the younger one tries it and likes it!
