Finalizing ADR's and park day plans as our FP+ booking day approaches and I'm wondering what the best plan is for our day at AK. DH and I will be traveling with our 10-month and 2-year old's, as well as my cousins who are 12 and 10.

We are planning to take a mid-afternoon break on most days, but because of the lengthier transportation to AK I'm hoping we can make the whole day with *fingers-crossed* a couple of stroller snoozes for the little ones as needed. I'd like to get to the park first thing and stay for the whole day so as not to rush through attractions. We currently have an ADR for RC at 12:45. My first concern is that our two-year-old might be frightened by some of the animatronics, particularly if we're seated next to the apes. Alternatively, I also have a 6:15 dinner booked at TH, in which case we would just grab a QS lunch around 11.

So... WWYD?
Tl;DR - young kids, spending all day at AK: lunch at RC or supper at TH?

I loved AK, but you can definitely cover most of the park in less than a full day. I would do RC for lunch (you and the children will enjoy the break) and then when you have finished touring the park in the afternoon you can leave when you want. Would' not want to wait around until 6:15 just in case the younger ones are getting tired out. You would have seen most of the park(if not all) by 4 if you made rope drop.

I haven't toured AK with our 2YO yet, but if I didn't take a midday break, I know my son would NOT make it through a 6:15 TS dinner. Too much waiting and sitting still when he wants to move to stay awake.

Our AK tour has virtually become ... Kilamanjaro Safari and then leave for epcot, MK, or DHS

Thanks all!

For the sake of the older kids I'm pretty sure we'll spend well over a half a day there, especially because it's DH's favourite park. I think I'll scrap the TH just in case we don't make it, or in case I end up heading out early with the little ones and having the rest of the crew catch up with us back at the resort...

I would keep the TS lunch instead, in case your younger kids don't make it through the day. The older kids could stay and do Flame Tree or another counter service for dinner. My 9 yr old kids only made it from RD until about 1 /2 day, but still a 1/2 day was plenty for them. We went in August so it was super hot, but still it was a lot of walking. We ended up going back to AK on another day for 4 hours. 2 half days worked much better for us rather than trying make it through one whole day. What I learned from my first trip this summer was that less is more. We ended up leaving parks earlier than expected and even canceled a dinner reservation to spend more time at pool. Kids were happier and parents were happier and we don't really remember what we didn't do!
