AK DAH vs. adding a park hopper day

AK is a half day/2 hour park for us. The only "e-ticket" rides for us were the Safari and EE. No interest in the shows. However, we haven't been to the park since Pandora opened. So, since we're only going to see Pandora, and ride Safari and EE, should we do AK DAH or add a park hopper day on to our trip?

We would like to do the rides in Pandora (FoP and Navi) but it's not a priority. I know I couldn't convince the family to wait more than 30 minutes for either. Also, we need to stay out of the Florida sun at midday. Line waits make me think DAH is a better choice, because we'd really only need the 3 hours they offer, but I'm not sure the math works to do DAH & 2 park hopper days vs. 3 park hopper days.

What are the chances of getting same day FoP or EE FPs if we started in another park that day and arrived after 5pm?

DAH at AK is a really great way to do the headliners with almost no wait. However, if the safari is on your list of must-do rides, take a look to see if you’ll even be able to do the safari with DAH. For our date, the safari closed at 7, so we had no way of going on a DAH ticket. I know the safari is generally open later as the sun sets later, but definitely worth checking for your trip dates.

It is possible to get same day FP for EE and FOP, but it’s not a guarantee.

I would do 3 park hopper days and try to do AK at rope drop on one of those days. I would probably try to make AK the last of the three days if getting FOP FP+ is important. Nav'i FP+ should be easy to get if you can't get FOP. It doesn't sound like Pandora is a huge priority for you so there is no way I would eliminate an entire day of park touring just to do AK DAH.

I'd lean to DAH, if you can get into the Safari
Your odds of getting same day FP for FoP are low. There are there but you have to be really lucky to be looking at just the right time. You also don't mention how many in your party. That's a big factor too
PP's comment about the safari is important. The earliest you can get in with DAH is 6:30 (I think) and if the last safari is at 7:00 then you may make it, if you hightail it over there. The rest of the rides are open for DAH.
