AK and MGM questions?

We (myself, DW, and DS2) have most of our plans set but have a couple questions....

We have a full day set aside for AK and then dinner at Boma. Plan is to get through what we want to see in the park, let DS rest somewhere for a little while in the afternoon and then head to AKL. This will be the only day that we are in that area of WDW so we were wondering if there is anything else in that area that is a must see...anything at AKL that we shouldn't miss?...anything outside of AK or AKL that we should stop and see? If things don't go as planned, we might have to head back to resort for afternoon nap...so would have less time before dinner to look around.

Also, current plan is to hit MGM during the morning of the first star wars weekend. Flight home is late afternoon so we only have the morning and it seems like most of the attractions are shows which can be hard to fit into a morning so if we can cross a couple off our list prior to that day, it would certainly help.....so, are there any shows, etc. that we could catch late in the day/evening if we stop by MGM earlier in our stay?

Thanks.

akl, i'd leave enough time to watch the animals at the lodge..you can view them from by the pool if you aren't staying there( maybe other places also, that's just where we went) you can go out the door right between Boma and Jiko if i am remembering it correctly.( it might be one floor up, for some reason i remember taking an elevator someplace but i think it was to the gift shop) i think there is also an evening story telling program and to my knowledge anything but the pool is open to any guest of WDW, whether you are staying there or not.

not sure what the MGM ? is..what shows to skip? if so i think Indiana Jones might be beyond a 2 yr old. beauty and the beast is mostly singing/ dancing so that might not hold his interest either

on the other hand, i'd do little mermaid, Disney play house if he is familiar with those TV shows( my 2 yr old gbaby doesn't like any of Disney shows but little Einsteins so we may not go there). if you think he could take 3 d, the Muppet 3 d show( least scary 3-d one i can think of)

My family really liked Animal Kingdom and could have easily spend the whole day there. We really like the Rainforest Cafe just outside the AK park. There is lots of places at AKL to chill out and watch animals. You could head down to the overlook area and camp out by the fire pit it is really relaxing. There is a playground by the pool area that my kids loved. There is usually something going on in the lobby for kids. The AKL is beautiful and Boma's has the best food. I loved the coconut rice, ribs and flat bread.

Something to consider at Animal Kingdom is the Flights of Wonder show. It's about 20 minutes. Not overwhelming but educational. Very low keyed. It's about the birds natural abilities and it's not birds doing bicycle rides. I've never seen a kid come away from here without a great big grin on their face. Better yet - after the show, the handlers will invite everyone to come up and meet the birds up close and personal. Heck, my 40 something husband goes up there all the time (or course, he lets the kids go first). Seeing my granddaughter looking at an owl within a foot of her was priceless.

If that fits into the day, check it out.
