I paid the $5 per person and picked our seats when I booked our flights.
Just an FYI to anyone else who has done this:
When I originally selected our seats, the airplane had 2 seats on each side of the plane, there are 4 of us, so I selected 2 seats in aisle 16 and the 2 seats directly behind it in aisle 17. I just happened to check the website today and apparently they have switch aircrafts for this flight (3 seats across on both sides), so we became scattered and were no longer sitting next to each other!
Luckily, I was able to switch our seats (no extra charge) on the site so we're all in the same aisle next to each other
